Nearly a decade of Chicago winters made me welcome (well, not quite...but accept) Louisiana summers.

Beyond stinging wind and misery, there's something about the lushness here I didn't appreciate it until everything was cold and gray.

Nearly a decade of Chicago winters

My great aunt lives in Chicago (Belmont Terrace/Schiller Park area) and celebrated her 90th b-day on Jan 30, 2019. It was a surprise party at Trattoria Porretta, her favorite restaurant. Never been so cold in all my life. -30 below wind chill and the high for the day was around -15. Granted this was an extreme case of cold weather as no way I could tolerate the brutal cold temps & snow for 4-5 months. My Chicago cousins visited us in February 2020 and complained about the humidity .... life is all about where you grow up.
