100% Ryan Nielsen would be dc if the Saints hadn’t blocked it. I detested the Jones hire when it was made. But I think it was more about getting younger.

I refuse to believe that Coach O couldn't have just set back and fielded phone calls from interested DCs out there with better experience than Jones.

Why can’t you believe that?
That is EXACTLY the kind of thing Ed would do. He hired the previous DC without even an interview then said he didn’t need to interview him because he was going to hire him no matter what.
No poor choice by O should surprise anyone. What’s actually surprising is when he does something right.

Blame Jones all you want, but Blake Baker and Corey Raymond are putting straight up trash on the field. Baker, I don't know what to expect, but I expect more from our DB 's especially safeties from Raymond.

Jones is coaching the safeties this year bud. Reymond is straight corners.

I still remember this board being filled with morons who wanted Aranda gone and thought offenses had figured his defense out. Lucky for us, we got a guy named Daronte who doesn’t know how to call plays or make adjustments BUT he relates to the players. What could possibly go wrong?

This is just filled will all types of dumb

The real issue is not the DL or OC, it is Coach O. He is running out of excuses - 10 wins save his job and calm down the talk. Under 10 wins, he will be on the hot seat for next year - if he survives this year.
As the CEO of the team, he is held to the highest level of accountability. He got complacent and the end-results confirmed it.

It's going to be a long, long, long season.

And you have the same blunders with the same players but with 2 different coordinators. At some point some of the blame has to fall at the player’s feet. UCLA ran the same exact play 2 times in a row ( and should have pulled it off except for a bad pass ), that’s how clueless, bad the lack of reading keys are and eye discipline is for these players.

Jones was hired solely on the idea that O is so dang hitched to a 4 man front thats why he always brings up the Miami & usc days newsflash this isn't the 90s anymore O.

But he's the needed color. You know..inclusion

We had a White DC last season. How'd that work out?
The bigger concern is the hire of someone (regardless of color) without experience. He may very well work out, but he's going to be learning on the job.

To be 100% honest we still cannot judge Jones as he has only been here for 1 game calling plays. What I will say is that our safeties were the worst position on the field on defense and DB is his expertise. I seriously hope Ward and Ryan can be healthy cause when our linebackers actually did their job defensively our safeties were no where to be seen which led to big plays and touchdowns.

Why don't you call O & tell him you want the job.

This is eye opening.
It really is just piss poor coaching at LSU. Super talented guys that just aren't coached well.
