Nice try. Before TAF came around, how do you think the athletic department was funded?

Correct…..except it was for much longer than 60 years.

Idiot. There is no link to provide. The la tax payers supported the tiggers for over 100 years, before the taf was formed. Or maybe you’d have us believe that people of Alabama supported them? Or martians?

I hate to do this to SVP because of the hate mail he will receive... but he called ULM "Louisiana" for the entire bad beats segment of his show last night.

and what about the new medical school?
the totally separate from ULM institution that leases land on ULMs campus?
I'll give them credit though, ULM did a great job at marketing that to fool people into thinking they have a medical school. From thr ULM website a few years ago...
Headline: ULM closer to getting osteopathic medical school
Content:

The move brings VCOM one step closer to creating a location at ULM. In May the UL System Board of Regents approved a cooperative endeavor between ULM and VCOM to establish a branch campus at ULM

Ha! Attack the messenger. ULL fans hate for their dirty secret to be exposed. Despite claims about LSU, no numbers are provided to back them up. Well, what we do know is that for the last fiscal year the ULL athletics taxpayer subsidy exceeded its closest rival (La. Tech) by an amount 1-1/2 times greater than that for McNeese (a by comparison small $5, 068, 069). When the new numbers come out in a few months, they will be further off the charts. In a state where roads can't be fixed, bridges can't be built, and other necessities can't be fully funded, taxpayers should be outraged.

I mean acting like this doesn’t help bolster the university is equally as ridiculous as acting like it’s directly a part of it. Having that on campus is no doubt drawing students to undergrad programs that help feed into it.

Oh yeah that is a journal from jstor, so not sure you will understand how to read it since it does not have pictures and small words

The other guys said 60 years. Now you are going back to Huey Long. That's nearly 100 years. Is that your argument? Huey Long favored LSU (the top state university then as now) so your school's athletic program deserves welfare today.

As of 2016, LSU was one of 7 schools that does not receive a state subsidy which means the other 123 schools in the FBS must be "Welfare queens" as well.
In a state that is dead last in education, this tells me that people's priorities in this state lie somewhere beyond higher ed.

Those are the only 3 schools that are ranked in every major academic ranking service year in and year out.
Now, LaTech is a nationally ranked tier 1 and all but LSU is significantly ahead and Tulane is way ahead of both LSU and Tulane.
This is all hogwash. What is tier 1 exactly? What is a "major academic ranking service"?
Rankings are more/less BS, but here we go:
THE:
68 - Tulane
264 - LSU
>600 - ULL
>600 - LaTech
*ULM unlisted
USNWR:
41 - Tulane
153 - LSU
298-389 - ULL
298-389 - LaTech
298-389 - ULM
Princeton Review Best 387:
Listed - Tulane, LSU, ULL
Unlisted - LaTech, ULM
Carnegie Classification:
R1 - Tulane, LSU
R2 - ULL, LaTech
D/PU - ULM
ULL and Tech are basically indistinguishable in rankings except for ULL being included in the PR Best 387. ULM is a step below both.

LSU is clearly the best public institution in the State and one of the best in the country. LSU and Tulane are also R1 institutions which puts them in an entirely different league in global academics.

According to the people I’ve spoken with, UL should be a Carnegie R1 this next classification.

Dude. C'mon. you can't be that blind/stupid. At best lsu is middlin'......in the sec. And that is after getting the lion's share of funds in the state for over a 100 years.

I don't think I have ever seen one ULM fan complain in one of these threads. Basically ULM people just accept it because at the end of the day, most of them just go to school there to get a degree with zero fricks given about athletics
I just saw this thread today. I comment on every single one of these thread. Generally, the group of folks at NLU when I was, are pretty damn bitter about it all. We saw our university who at the time was either larger or the same size as both La Tech and USL get screwed over. I was there in the late 70's and early 80's. We were all pretty much equals at that point. It pisses me off every single time I see UL or Louisiana.

The difference between ULaLa, ULM and Tech is ULM knows their place in the pecking order of Louisiana universities.
Yall left out ULM's nursing program and what about the new medical school?
Exactly. So these idiots just want to move all the good programs out of ULM and just give them to other schools. Basically, that's the ULL and LaTech folks trying to do to other schools the same thing they think LSU did to them!

whoa now there little lady....I think you have confused with the ruston mutts. I have never heard any UL people say that we should take all the good things from ulm and then just shut them down. That's what ltur would do if they ever got their grubby little paws on you.
