Man, I hope that’s not true.

I don’t see any shot a company like shell would leave personnel on board in something like this though.

Just read a post from a guy that was on it. He said they shut the whole platform in and all was evacuated on Thursday.

You and I know we both have sources. Mine are saying that this is a rumor.

They haven’t confirmed anything yet.

As far as they know there are people on board.

I don't see Shell doing that. Mid-tier companies are the ones that do risky shite like that.

This is what my peeps in the industry said. Stones is the only platform in the Shell portfolio that would have people on it because they can unhook and float away if needed

Negative, production is shut in and the facility secured. The whole eastern and Central gulf was evacuated by Friday.

We have a mutual source that confirms it has broken away.

The manned/unmanned allegation apparently isn’t true. It seems as thought it’s unmanned. I stand corrected.

Also what happens to the production pipe that is attached to it?

Hopefully it was shut in and it holds

I was about to ask that to the oilfield baws, do they leave a skeleton crew on those super rigs? all rigs? it would make sense and they have those enclosed escape capsules, just wondered about that, some serious hazard duty premium if so I would think

Absolutely not. Everyone leaves and you leave a hurricane generator running to monitor weather, pressures, etc….facilities are unmanned and bled down. Drill ships simply drive to better weather.

What does that actually mean if you have surface wellheads? Is this an in situ safety valve test?

Hearing globetrotter II (drillship) had a very bad time as well. It’s right by Mars

Absolutely true. Facilities are evacuated, shut down, drained down as much as can. Tanks on shore also, some filled with water or minimal levels to keep from surge.

A source confirmed the platform broke off, unsure to what degree. I hope he has bad info.

If it did, I am not sure it’s designed to float without the moorings. I believe would eventually flip over with certain conditions. Prayers this is all rumor. I hope I am wrong with my thought above.

Ok thanks for the update. I was about to launch my skiff to go get it but I'm not sure I have enough rope.

I work on an MPSV/tug chartered to Shell and we haven’t heard shite and it is likely they would try and send us to run it down if it were on the loose
