That would be sweet. They also need more of them out in the middle of the gulf.

This is true. Head north immediately. Screw east west BS. You will get stuck when the shite hits the fan.

I've wathced/tracked hundreds of tornadoes over the years. This feeling I have tonight is the same I get when I see a TDS heading toward a city I know is full of people. It is a hopeless, powerless feeling
And this is a really really really big arse tornado

Current track is near, but east of Baton Rouge.
NOAA Interactive Map (click box to turn track on)
City would be on the less intense side of a weakening storm, but still a hurricane. But any movement west could be very bad for the city, in terms of wind damage.

I just hope this thread got quiet because people are yelling at their wives to grab the mini carry suitcase safe full of important documents, and bitching to not forget medicines. I always have this stuff ready as I had to be prepared to evacuate in one hour from an overseas base at any moment.
I don't know how parents do this today with all the electronics kids get. Sorry but a 4 year old does not need an iphone or ipad...
LOL sorry, anyway hope all are getting to safety, your daughter will be fine she is with the best.

IR loop of tropical tidbits.
Maybe it just tried to do one of those eye recycle things, just looking at the multiple bands on the east side.

Did TWC call it a night? All of there projections are wrong and not updated. How does a channel specifically focused on weather shut it down when something this catastrophic is about to take place? What a bunch of sorry mfers
Probably short staffed (relatively speaking) because of COVID

Well I can't leave until Monday at 7am. So I'm no help. I just don't want them leaving at 8am and getting stuck in traffic. Been a nurse for 12 years and finally got stuck in a storm.

I’m thinking LC might be a big risk. Any car trouble, accidents or if the traffic begins…. we are stuck.

Holy shite, just looked at the radar image of this storm for the first time in a few hours. This has blown up, I wouldn't be shocked if it's a strong cat 4. Beautiful looking Hurricane.

Thanks. That's pretty cool.
Do you remember our first real weather guy that posted during Katrina? I forget his handle but he lived in Bay St. Louis.

Kinda feels like when MTV quit playing videos. They are a shell of their former selves.

how will it effect my area? The answer is 75-110 mph winds, possible tornadoes, flooding depending on your location.
downvoted for trying to give a guess by using nearest historical data, so there, use the info the pros do.

am in a stable house in Mandeville, but I have a wife and 3 small ones here. Is it best to wake them up and just head north? I have family in Lake Charles, but going west scares me in case of a break down. Or is staying put safe?
Dad, you're the only who matters. Doesn't matter if it misses you or hits you. Decide NOW how to take care of those kids. Simple as that.
