My mom, Uncle and Cousin are in Houma. Rest of the family in Pensacola.
My mom is so stubborn. My neighbor has my keys in Prairieville to my house and garage but she refuses to leave Houma right now. I’m wide awake and seem to be the only one in the family that gives a shite. Trying to tell her this is the time to leave.

Yes they can. Just don’t catch leprosy.

Albany 3-day weather

Gusts op to 70 currently projected. The torrential downpour we're likely to get there mixed in with the storm increasing in power is enough for me to decide not to stick it out. The Natalbany River at Baptist wasn't too kind to the town back in 2016.

Beginning now, there will be a multi-hour gap in aircraft reconnaissance measurements from Hurricane #Ida due to yet another maintenance issue on one of the planes. Bad timing, but should have data again in ~3 hours or so from a new @NOAA_HurrHunter aircraft.

When this is over these units should get a visit from the inspector general.

Am I being completely irrational to wake the wife and kids up and roll out. We’re in WBR. Lol. is it going to be that bad?!

This is going to be a bad storm in our region. IMO- from everything I am seeing, it (the eye) has shifted east from EBR. This storm now looks more like Katrina than Gustav.

This storm is like the perfect storm. 1. Forecasted Cat 4 but only Cat 2 at bed time so people get complacent. 2. Blows up while people are sleeping and then people panic. 3. Perfect atmosphere for intensification 4. High Tide landfall. Praying for everyone.

Now would be a good time to send emergency alerts, hell why not send them out with every update once landfall is 12 hours away. Keep the alerts within the cone.

I am in a stable house in Mandeville, but I have a wife and 3 small ones here. Is it best to wake them up and just head north? I have family in Lake Charles, but going west scares me in case of a break down. Or is staying put safe?

Wife and I are currently at work in EBR hospitals. She gets off this morning. I have to work tonight. House is in Denham. 3 kids. She will be with mother in law. Should they leave at 8 when she gets home? Worried about them being stuck in traffic vs stuck in house.

There is plenty of time to get out. Head north. No reason to sick around. I honestly don't get it. I have had friends and family go through tornadoes. One lost everything and was lucky to be alive. The whole house was gone except for the stairwell they were all in. Still plenty of time. Consider it a vacation. Head north and eat some of the best tamales in the country along the Mississippi Delta. Tons of good Italian food in small towns and plenty of welcoming people. If y'all aren't first responders enjoy a road trip. Hell make it an annual "Mecca" journey. I been through my own personal shite but if y'all need help I ain't got shite to do. I am unemployed until the end of September. No reason to risk life and limb. Plenty of folks that know you first need to make a roux.

Inspector General my arse. an IG is worth less in 6 months to say these good people wake up to

And I keep looking at the Federal levee on Destroya's twitter.. It is federal----don't count on it, it won't work. Destroya should have evaced contra-flow. Her twitter and position knew damned well this was going to be Cat4 at landfall.

Yes. If you leave now, you will have ZERO regrets that you took the best efforts to protect your crew. Even if it take 90 minutes for you to prep, you will beat the traffic.

I just woke up and have been trying to catch up on this thread. What am I missing here? None of the news outlets are saying anything has really increased with the storm. I am in BR. I planned to stay. We have a whole house generator. The only reason I would leave is wind that would rip the roof off.
