Peer reviewed is great still, if it's actually reviewed.

In a similar kind of experiment in some of the harder sciences, somebody coded a bot to write nonsense technical papers and got quite a few (though not all that prestigious) journals to bite.

The thing that actually pisses me off about it is these journals charge so much for access but apparently are only reading half the stuff they come across.
