As a relative newcomer to this area and hurricanes, I'm still a little leery of where Ike is headed.

I've looked at the different projections and am curious if anybody else thinks we might still get some damage.

You will get winds...my guess is in the 50 mph range.
You will get water, you are to the east of where the storms will hit...heaviest part. I heard on the news that up to 15 ft seas were likely on the coast line. ...based on TV weather..you know what that means

LP will get yours. Not as bad as Gustav, but yeah, you'll get some. I think moreso than what they are predicting. They keep saying this bastard is heading WNW but it sure as hell looks like it's been on a NW track. Of course, today Ike is suppose to take more of a western jog, of course, Katrina was suppose to hit the Florida panhandle too.

Look at a dispaly that shows all of the models to get a better idea of the possibilities. The hurricane tracking science has advanced tremendously. Still, we are talking weather and mother nature so always be prepared- just in case. The most encouraging barometer I see is that we are playing some football in Death Valley Saturday night!

The best website I have found to track these storms is www.stormpulse.com. It will allow you to view forcast, history (not only of this storm, but of all recorded storms since 1965) and wind probability. It is a really good interactive website for people wanting to know the latest on storms.

WAFB was reporting TS winds 255 miles out from the center, so I would imagine you would get some gusts. I keep thinking about Katrina and how she turned at the last minute...hopefully Ike won't do that.
