That Redskins team that Cousins dragged to the playoffs wasn't anything to write home about either and that franchise as a whole has been pretty abysmal for decades as well. He just wasn't stuck there for as long as Stafford was on his so we don't know what would have happened had Cousins stuck in DC.

I think Stafford is the better QB but I think people are underselling Cousins in this thread.

Mediocre means below average. When you consider all the QBs in the NFL, all the starters and backups too, neither are most definitely not mediocre talents.

This is the correct answer.

Matt Stafford has been a legit good starting QB in the NFL. Anyone who disagrees honestly doesn't know jack about football.

Yeah, he benefitted early from having Calvin Johnson from rookie season through 2015, but even after CJ's retirement Stafford played pretty darn well with not much of a supporting cast.

He has a below .500 record as a starter, but has there been a QB who could consistently win with the Detroit Lions since Bobby Layne in the 40s & 50s?

Anyone trying to praise Kirk Cousins in 2021 makes me question how much football they actually watch

Look up mediocre in the Oxford dictionary

Mediocre is moderate, it’s average.

Regardless of that let me ask this question. Take both at their best & both at their worse. Is the difference really something worth arguing about?

You’re right. But do you think of all the dozens of QBs there are in the NFL, you would put them in the middle? And I’m not talking about just starters because you said mediocre QB talents.

Speaking from a talent standpoint, they are well above average. Stafford in particular. Their problem is consistency.

You are what you do consistently.

Not what you do occasionally

Matt Stafford is one of the most physically talented QBs in nfl history.
Talent is the thing he has in spades.

Absolutely when it comes to throwing the football. You may find 5 guys that can make the throws he does. Marino, favre, mahomes, jeff George, rodgers. That's the ones I can think of.he made the most unbelievable throw I've ever seen.

This came up the other day .mcvay was talking about him making these throws like 55 yards on a line

Speaking of arms, over the years I've heard many times that the strongest arm in nfl history was jeff george

The sacred Jeff George argument.

I mean if your reaching for that old chestnut just throw in Jamarcus Russell too.

They’re not consistently mediocre among all NFL QBs.

If you’re gonna hang your position on “all NFL QBs” as if this discussion really was about comparing them to 3rd stringers than u win the fine print award.

You were the one that made it that by saying mediocre talent. Plenty of actual mediocre talents aren’t even perennial starters.

It seems to me that its Cousins hands down but surprisingly most seem to have it the other way. I don't get it. He doesn't show up for prime time, but Cousins is very underrated.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if Stafford wins MVP this year and the Rams win the NFC.

I didn’t make it anything. I said only mediocre talent. How you interpreted it is on you.

Like Mr. Meseeks says your failures are your own old man.
