I am up here in Omaha because one of my buddies plays for state. I was sitting in the outfield for the state vs. Virginia game and these two guys wearing Nebraska gear are sitting right in front of us. This guy made it clear to me that the state of Nebraska gets legitimately upset when LSU doesn’t make it to Omaha. He says the crowd is never better and the night life when we are in town is epic. My Uber driver said the same thing as well. I know most are aware of this but just thought I would share.

No business more than Barrett's I'd imagine. Place looks dead on non-LSU years.

Lived in Omaha for years, and this I will say, some of the nicest people in the world, genuine and friendly....I can't ever pull against Nebraska because their fans are also among the best, not nasty or vulgar like so many are.

I got pulled over by the police in Omaha this past April. The policeman saw my LSU hat and smiled, asked me if I thought that the Tigers would make it to the World Series this year and I said maybe if we got hot. He smiled again and said "I hope so", "drive safe and geaux Tigers" and let me go. We are BIG in Omaha!

True story- I ran in to Larry the Cable Guy (lives in Omaha) in Chinatown San fransisco somewhere around 2010 and got to talking to him. He saw my LSU shirt and said Omaha might as well be Baton Rouge north bc they just finished building us a new home-away-from-home stadium, referring to TD ameritrade. Really nice guy and said he loved when the LSU crowd was in town.

I went to the LSU vs Rice Super Regional back in the day. The one where we got one runner on 3rd base the entire series and he didn't score.

Anyway there were a lot of older LSU fans with RV's that were leaving Houston and going straight to Omaha after the super.

The night before the Super Regional started a bunch of us were sitting around shooting the shite. The wife of the retired LSU charter flight pilot told us a story from the year before on their trip to Omaha.

She said she was wearing her LSU gear and was in a grocery store stocking the RV for the week. She was 2nd in line and overheard the cashier telling a fan from a California school very matter of factly that they did not accept out-of-state checks at this grocery store.

When she got to the register she pulled out her wallet and was counting her cash to see how much she had. The cashier just kind of stared at her for a moment and then started to ring up the groceries.

The LSU lady whispered to the cashier that it was embarrassing but she may not have enough cash to pay for everything and may have to put some stuff back. The cashier stared at her again, this time kind of angrily and said "Mam, you are an LSU fan. We take your checks at this store".

Similar type stories for us when we were there back in 2013.

They truly hate it when LSU isn't in it.

I've heard this as well. One of my dad's friends went to Omaha in the early 2000s (2001, maybe?...Cresse's winning RBI) and he said he saw signs at a few stores that said something like -
quote:

Local checks only unless you're an LSU fan - we know you'll be back here next year

I this is over done, maybe the BBB makes everyone say that, I'm sure they love revenue but I've been there when we were in the CWS before and I didn't get that vibe that we are almost playing at home when we're there

Maybe you did it wrong

I was in Omaha in 2017 and everyone from the Uber drivers to get the bartenders rolled out the red carpet. Awesome time and awesome people up there

A group of us were in Omaha for the CWS several years ago. We were returning a rental at the airport, and there were two local ladies in the booth. They saw that we had LSU caps on, and told us how much they loved LSU, and our fans. They held up their hands, and both had their fingernails painted with Tiger logos.

A guy we do business with is from there and he says the same thing. He says how much the town and the people love LSU. He also says how much they hate Miami and Texas.

I don’t know when you were there and didn’t get the “home away from home” vibe for LSU. I’ve been 4 times and the people in Omaha truly love LSU!!
