Did not know they were gone. My first flight was to Houston as a 10 or 11 yr old to go to Astroworld. 40 whole damn minutes. Always drove bf that.

Astroworld was the vacation for slim pickings year. Flush years were Orlando or bust!

Had lots of fun at both

Loved them as a kid. Couldn’t imagine how disgusting and ghetto they would be in present Houston.

In the early 90s we would go twice every summer and stay at the Marriott (I think) with the pool on the roof. Can’t tell you how many times we would go watch the Batman show and have funnel cakes. My favorite roller coaster was the XLR-8, good times

Many fond memories as a kid. Parents brought us kids twice. Packed ham sandwiches and would go eat lunch in the parking lot. We were not allowed to buy that expensive park food.

Yes, I had family in Houston and used to go visit for a couple of weeks every summer in the seventies. The Texas Cyclone was my favorite ride. I also saw the band Kansas there by chance. I remember it as being a whole lot of fun.

Yep.

I rode the Texas Cyclone the summer it opened as a young whipper snapper. I remember seeing it on the drive up to the park, and expressed my doubts about it until my older brother called me a girl.

Probably the best amusement park ride of my life.
