I see your point in that wildly engaging, well thought-out retort. I guess the current system of Clemson, OSU, Alabama, and a wildcard provides so much parody and such high entertainment value.

So you want to watch Clemson, OSU and Alabama win MORE playoff blowouts?
Adding more teams and rounds won’t magically keep the best teams from slaughtering all but each other.

I think the current system has had a negative effect on recruiting.
More playoff teams may make that 5 star rethink sitting on the bench at Bama for 3 years, behind a couple other 5 stars, before getting meaningful playing time. If at all.
