BCS Era CFB had the most meaningful regular season. Now 3+ loss teams will be able to compete for a title. Crazy

Many CFB fans that first time a major end of season rivalry game sees one side benching a bunch of their starters

The BCS was so good. It fed our insatiable need to be victims. Imagine 2019 under the BCS. LSU would beaten either Ohio state or Clemson in the championship game.
Whichever team got left out of Clemson and Ohio State would never, ever stop bitching about it.
Hell hath no fury like a bunch of chicken little fans scorned and like it or not hatred and victim hood is the great elixir for fan bases and rivalries.
Now there is no unfinished business carried over from one season to the next.

Yep.
And when you look up the NFL’s Greatest Games, not a single one lists a regular season game, because without high stakes, they are meaningless entertainment.
Coming to a CFB near you.

With a 12 team playoff and the bowl system gone entirely, we have reduced the post season from 80+ teams down to 12. So now, when a shitty Texas AM squad goes 9-3 and doesnt make jack shite...then we will see if the regular season is less "meaningful" to you. This lazy take from the anti playoff expansion crowd is pathetic. We currently live in the least meaningful regular season system in college football history. 6-6 teams make bowls. It is literally the welfare generation of college football. Good riddance to the bowl system...FINALLY!!!

Cheapens regular season
No need for conference title games
Why play an extra game

This is the primary reason behind a lack of quality home and homes. Money and annual rivalry is the a huge reason why we get most of them. For this season we get the following SEC OOC:
Alabama @ Miami (Chik-fil-A game)
Arkansas @ Texas
Auburn @ Penn State
Florida @ FSU (every year)
George @ GT (every year)
Kentucky vs Louisville (every year)
LSU @ UCLA
Mississippi vs NC State
Missouri @ BC
Ole Miss vs Louisville (Chik-fil-A game)
South Carolina vs Clemson (every year)
Tennessee vs Pitt
Texas A&M @ Colorado
Vanderbilt vs Stanford
There is very little incentive to get on the road and play a quality OOC opponent. If you lose, you just lost your shot at the playoff for nothing. But if you win, good for you, it doesn't really get you much as a P5 school. The trade off isn't really there with a huge downside and only a minimal upside. If I just play cupcakes for OOC and win my conference I go, so why play a tough OOC opponent? Perfect example is Washington a few seasons back.
In an expanded playoff situation, if you lose, you only "sacrifice" a potential at large bid and could effect your seeding. But if you win, you gain a potential at large bid if you drop a game in conference and possibly get higher seeding. So the trade off flips to there being a bigger upside and a minimal downside. Because of this I think you will end up with more quality matchups in the regular season.

The BCS era also had multiple deserving teams be left out of the championship just because. It was fun football to watch, but am absolutely terrible way to crown a true champion.
