Lovely posits from the malignant midget

Fauci: 'Unlikely' US will see COVID-19 surge in fall, winter

Americans may "elect" to continue wearing masks in public for at least part of the year, particularly during flu season, due to the success health officials saw in preventing the spread of the seasonal flu as a result of mask mandates.

Fauci told Todd that he thought some Americans might choose to continue wearing masks in public due to the normalization of the practice.

"I think people have gotten used to the fact that wearing masks clearly, if you look at the data, diminishes respiratory diseases. We've had practically a nonexistent flu season this year merely because people were doing the kinds of public health things that were directed predominantly against COVID-19," said Fauci.

"It is conceivable that, as we go on a year or two or more from now, that during certain seasonal periods when you have respiratory-borne viruses like the flu, people might actually elect to wear masks to diminish the likelihood that you'll spread these respiratory-borne diseases," he continued.

As long as it's purely voluntary I don't care if people feel better wearing a mask

I'd like to know what his role was in fostering American tax dollars financing research in the Wuhan Institute.

I’d be ok if the pinkos want to continue wearing masks. Helps identify the idiots to avoid without having to guess.

Leftists certainly will. It’s as prevalent with them as American flag clothing was on republicans in the 80s. It’s become their identity banner...or security blanket, not sure which.

Yes. These are the least intellectual among us.

I will go a step further and say that it's also bad public health policy. Sure, you might reduce transmission of respiratory diseases, but part of what makes a pathogen more or less lethal is prior exposure. The immune system must be challenged/exposed in order to be effective. If a population goes into "immunological hiding", it becomes more susceptible to the the next exposure event. You make the population more naive; the pathogen more "novel".

COVID19 isn't the first coronavirus; it won't be the last.

How does he know that exactly? The CDC did not report seasonal flu deaths this past season. They put out a memo that they didn't have the time to count those numbers because of their time spent on the covid numbers.

Anyone wearing a mask should be assumed to be sick and potentially contagious. They should be shunned and treated like lepers.

Not a big fan of this Fauci guy but what he is saying here if just a reflection of reality. Despite personal feelings on the matter regarding the handling of key aspects of the COVID episode some people are likely to view flu seasonal outbreaks in a new light. It is strange to see that there is no real impact from the flu under the current conditions. It is an easy leap of the imagination to reason that masks and distancing are the likely difference makers. Don’t know if I personally will wear a mask during flu season, especially if I am vaccinated, but I will not judge others too harshly if they feel it’s something they need to do.

What may or may not be mandated by businesses and governments remains to be seen, but our world has changed like it or not. I just hope for better times.

Jackasses can wear diapers outside their pants if they want, too, as it is voluntary.

Truth be known, collectively we would've been better as a society if we embraced the practice during cold & flu season the way a lot of the Asian societies have done.

That said, folks are more than welcome to do as they please - just don't lose your mind when I choose to do something different from you.

Also known as counting people with the regular flu as having COVID.

Is he saying we’ve had fewer respiratory-related deaths since mask-wearing started? That is good news.
