The portal has gotten ridiculous but i get kids taking advantage of it especially after this unprecedented season. I just hope “entering the portal” doesn’t become more of a fad than a meaningful procedure. (ie declaring for the draft after every season)

Wish Cook would stick around. His time would come eventually. If he’s got people in his ear telling him this and that, as an 18/19 y/o it’s very easy to buy into that

I'v said it before, this transfer portal will change college sports big time....too easy for an student athletes to de-commit if things aren't going their way.

Oh well, "the easy way out" is here to stay.

I brought this up after the St Bonny game that Cook was going to go. I really like Cook, but he was. 2-sport guy in HS, is 5'11, he was always going to be a role player for a couple of years and possibly play later in the career. These kids just all think they're NBA players immediately.

I'm pretty casual on basketball. Between expected draft departures and now transfers, is LSU gonna have anybody left from last years team?

If you were paying attention, you’d know that until Hyatt, Cook and Cam Thomas announcements came we were actually one person over the scholarship limit for next year (everyone knew Thomas was leaving).

Wade is swinging for the fences on the two current open roster spots. Best scenario would be Reid and Miller.

I think he was a little more than a "2-sport guy in HS"

I never saw why Gaines played more than Cook. They both played good defense, but Cook could also help contribute on the offensive end.

But Gaines played great against Arkansas in the SECT, so I give respect for that.

If you’re an undersized guard in the SEC, your skill set needs to be on par with Tremont Waters. Unfortunately, Cook isn’t that.

Changing college athletics for sure but idk about destroying it.

Instead of sitting on the bench for another year or 2, cook gets to go find a program where he can play and contribute.

On the flip side, LSU is able to pick up players to upgrade our roster without relying on freshman alone.

Continuing problem for LSU no matter who is coach. Too many people transfer or leave for NBA that aren’t ready that can help this team. You are going to lose some but they need to stop the bleeding. Look at James Bishop. Yeah he averaged 19 points for a bad team and won’t have averaged that at LSU but he could have been a key off the bench guy to provide depth. Hyatt and cook maybe those guys next year.

This is not unique to LSU. This is the current landscape of college athletics, and especially basketball.

Teams that manage the bleeding are the most successful. It’s not unique to LSU but good programs understand this and manage it. LSU program has not done a good job of managing it and that is why there is a ceiling for the program.

1) this isn’t just an lsu issue. Florida had a 5 star PG who was a key guy off the bench for Gonzaga this year. It’s just how college works now. You gotta rebuild your team every year. Not saying I love it, just saying it’s the way it works.

2) basketball isn’t like football. In football if a guy leaves early his only chance to play professional ball is the nfl. In basketball, you can go play in Europe and make a good living. Guys like Days will never be nba guys no matter what they do because of physical limitations but they can be good players in Europe.

Think WW wanted/wants « less than best »???

Criticize CLEO for losing the WBB guard to transfer portal, from Walker HS!!

Of course, with anti-WW agenda, you fail to see the big picture!! For example, John Brady had to wait 4 years to actualise the development if another short guard, T-Mitch, another local phenom who scored jKAJILLIONS on the Cecilia/St Martin courts, in this case Livingston!! That does not translate to the SEC courts!! Think WW dies not understand personnel, suitable to his plans, coaching and future? WW is not a Big Mouth Dale Brown BS’ing type!! He really is a knowledgeable HC!!!*

*Just wait til WW leaves for So-Called Blue Blood School or NBA, he’ll be criticized for that!! WW does not give a rodent’s azz about the peanut gallery!!!

If we replace Cook and Hyatt with better players how are we “bleeding”.

Given what this staff has been through in the last 2 years (I get it, self inflicted), Wade’s roster management has been pretty damn good.

Not sure what point you’re trying to make but look around college basketball 40-50% annual attrition rate is becoming the norm.

Go back and reread what I wrote. I don’t think you understand it.

Unless you are saying LSU should make no attempt to manage people leaving? Is that what you are saying? Florida is a horrible example as it had been 12 years since they won and have made it past the round of 32 in 5. Unless you were trying prove my point in another poorly managed school with players leaving.
