And they all worked for their scholarship in the summer
That’s pretty amazing that 15 and 16 year old kids can work off a $20,000 debt in two months. They must be working some CEO level jobs.

When I was at CHS (93-97), some of the dumbest kids in my class were on football scholarships. They also were given free lunches and other perks too. And they were also problem kids in class too, and always got into trouble there. But they were good at football (or track) though.
I had quite the opposite experience. The kids that were there on football or basketball "scholarships" weren't really troublemakers at all. They were very much outsiders with respect to the makeup of the general student body and thus, were relatively quiet and kept to their own small groups. The troublemakers were the entitled pricks who felt they could do whatever they wanted because generations of their family had attended the school and subsequently donated a lot of money. They felt the school wouldn't punish them harshly. For the most part they were right.

severe recruiting violations!
Catholic High wouldn’t exist without severe recruiting. It’s a private school.
Great reminder though about the 1894 minute challenge. Last day today, fellas.

This is the exact kind of back and forth bitching I needed to get through this Friday.
Also, the LHSAA wont do anything. Never do.

For example how often do schools with good education and safe environments lose kids to actual recruiting?
You mean schools in white populated areas, and/or schools with already great football programs
Yea, no one transfers from those schools for good reason

Warrick Dunn has gained a fan

Problems come in when
1. Athletes are getting a highly disproportionate percentage of school scholarships
2. Parents of other students are directly paying for athletes tuitions
3. Boosters are donating money to the school for scholarships that disproportionately are given to athletes

quote:exactly. If you have a good public school with a proper education you don’t have to worry about this. So just like the ncaa and paying players, this is misdirected anger. Be mad at your school district for not providing a proper education
Yea, no one transfers from those schools for good reason
