I miss the Pandemic thread where some posters would give daily updates on numbers and statistics and use trendy words to try to sound like scientists. It took longer for some than others but eventually they all realized that all the numbers were cooked for political purposes and they looked foolish trying to say this was more dangerous than the flu.

Mindless, idiotic sheep. Karens. Go sell Amway and leave the thinking to the adults.

Anyone employing even a minimal amount of preventative measures can avoid catching it. You must have some seriously stupid friends.

I am young and healthy. No reason to get the vaccine. If I happen to get it nothing at all will happen to me anyway. I'll take my chances.

I have been around 59 people with it. I wear gloves because of the work I’m doing, I don’t wear a mask and haven’t caught it yet. Don’t think I’m going to be getting the shot.

Why would you take the chance?

The benefits outweigh the risks. Same as with any drug.

Likewise, no one in my household ever gets the annual flu vaccine either.

Same here.

Absolutely not. For me, the risks, known and unknown, outweigh the benefits

100% wont be getting it.

If you are somehow told do to do then do your research and just get the documents off the dark web to cover yourself.

Nope, I’m 55 and wasn’t affected much by the virus in December. I’ll take my chances, maybe reconsider when I’m 65. And my healthy children? Heck no.

Perhaps his associates adopted the popular thinking of many that it’s a minimal threat and there should be no hygienic lifestyle changes?

Plus, you can take minimal preventive measures and still catch it if there is a large number of people who don’t give a flip. Masks are more so to limit spread instead of keeping you from getting it.

You can’t have it both ways.

*Not getting any of the Trump vaccines if I can help it.

Waited in a line for 3 hours to get vaccinated the first day it was available at my hospital back in mid December. Would do it again without hesitation.

but I'm having second thoughts, mainly because of this 39 year old women in Utah who died recently after getting the second shot.

All that's coming out of Utah right now is a wait and see approach until the autopsy is done.

I'm 65 years old and I have some lung damage due to a severe case of pneumonia 3 years ago, and 4 subsequent upper repository infections in a several month span (I was working in an acute care hospital at the time). So I don't have a lot of room for error if I have a bad reaction.

I understand that, but, unequivocally, a 65yo man with baseline pulmonary damage has a higher chance of dying from COVID than from the COVID vaccine. As of available data through 3/12/21, that’s an unassailable fact.

If your hesitation is due to it being relatively rushed, novel vaccine mechanism, etc we can discuss that. But one person dying from it should not be your reason not to get it.

Wearing a mask and breathing your own exhaust can cause bacterial pneumonia.

Vaccines provide immunity to a specific disease. These shots do not provide immunity. They reduce symptoms. Like Tamiflu for influenza. These are essentially Tamivid.

I don’t think you understand what it means to be immune to a disease. No vaccine keeps every vaccinated person from being infected at all or being infected with a viral load sufficient to cause symptoms. Vaccines simply train your immune system to produce the specific antibodies to attack a particular pathogen. If your immune system is compromised then the vaccine may not work or your body may not be able to produce the required amount of antibodies. If you’re exposed to a large viral load then your vaccinated immune system may not have time to keep you from becoming infected to the point of showing symptoms before eventually overcoming the infection.

That's good to know. Thank you

That's the crux of it. I was already on the fence and then when that lady died I was like, hmmm, I wonder if I'm making the right decision to get the vaccine

I’m in my early 30s, and I’m vaccinated. As is my older sister. As is her husband. As are both of my parents who are 65+. So far none of us have grown extra arms. Granted, both my sister and I are in healthcare so it makes more sense for us.

I get it, there isn’t a 20 year track record for this vaccine. But no drug/treatment that gets FDA approval has that, and long term issues are found during phase 4 surveillance when large populations of people are already using said drug. Point being, LA, is that IF someone was going to have more trouble dealing with a Covid infection, it would be someone 65+ with a pulmonary comorbidity. In my honest opinion, and admittedly not an ID/virology/vaccination expert, you definitely should get it.
