Playing up for HFC didn’t work because my son had football practice every day until HFC practice time during the fall, and it’s 75 minutes away.

No, Port City is affiliated with GCU (current club) and is effectively an all-star selection of club, and I assume other local players, from U15-U18. I don’t have a feel on how many GCU boys versus other talent makes up the team, nor the age of those selected for the 18 man roster. I’ve heard they start with ~26 to down select from.

I just registered my son this week, so he doesn’t even have a kit...I guess I’ll bring him to watch the 2 games next week. PITA, but it’ll be good for him to see.

I just can't see that being a good idea. Let your kid play on age or a year up with GCU and enjoy the game. You don't want him playing with a bunch of college age kids. Seems like you are always chasing the "next big thing", whether it be with football or soccer. Your kids a nice player, but c'mon. You're talking about playing 4 years up. That can't be good for a kids development and I can't imagine this team would do that as anything more than a money grab.

By the way, that Hattiesburg team was fun to watch. I watched them take out the 05 Rush team in their tournament. It was a hell of a game.
