I watch dogs on the side through the Rover app. I get $20 per day per dog. Sometimes you get lucky and have an awesome Golden Retriever for a month and bank $600 easy. They provide the food and toys, you just have to provide a yard for the dog to shite in.

seriously looking in to this.
we pay a small fortune to rover every year for watching our dogs when we leave town

Do you have to be home the whole time? Can you do this with a 9-5?

Depends on the dog really. If you're watching a 6 month old puppy you might want to be checking back up on him every hour. My SO works from home so we do have a presence there always. If she had to go in, and we have a dog over, we just open the doggy door and maybe check back up on them at lunch time.

You should man. The best is when you get repeat customers and they just venmo you instead of going through the Rover app so you cut out their fee.

We had this lady write us a $700 check to put us on retainer for a month of watching her dog. We ended up watching the dog for 3 hours total in that month and banked $700. Of course if she ever needed us to watch the dog again we would do it free of charge but it was pretty damn cool.

I purchased an ice machine thing and set it up at a boat launch.... Thing is paying for itself and I'd love to buy a few more and set them up

There's no ice machine at my local boat ramp. What do your upfront expenses look like? What about weekly revenue?

I've considered getting a bouncy ball/small toy machine setup somewhere as well. I have a better gauge of the numbers there.

The question is how much does it cost to fix that machine when it breaks. Is enough money being made to offset any type of major service that the machine could need.

Back in college I remember there was some guys that would setup soft drink vending machines in all the frat houses. They made a killing.

This is why I'm comfortable with little ball machines. I've repaired them often enough in a high volume setting to know how sturdy they are, and I've got leads on spare parts. Biggest issue with them is how often they get jammed. If you aren't checking once a week, you're screwed. And they only net about $250 for a full load (approx 1000 balls).

That's not something I'd look at as like a second job, but it would be easy enough to fund a nice vacation or two every year or pad my retirement account if I could run 3-4 of them.

Upfront cost was 18k + 250 in rent a month
Revenue has been anywhere from 200-300 a week. During the really cold months it does go lower but summer and weekends around here help. That weekend of Mardi Gras where it was cold for a week I made like 10 bucks.
I have not had to fix anything on it yet, as I said I go once a week to get money out and a wipe down/cleaning. I'll do a larger cleaning at least once a month, only issue I had is someone backed into it and dented the heck out of it.

well frick me, you prolly made a few bucks off of me.

I've thought of doing it before but i never had the computer to run more than one bot and it always seemed like a hassle.

you must use a VPN I'm guessing?

Yes but you have to use a dedicated ip or you’ll get flagged by their bot detection system.

Seems like you got a good deal one one, everything I've seen on the used market looks like 25k+ on up to just stupid amounts. Maintenance costs for me seems scary on anything refrigerated. What if it's out for a month? Maybe not a big deal in February, you just eat the 250 + repairs, but if it's June or July, you could be out a quarter or a third of your yearly revenue (I wouldn't see year-round traffic in my climate).

Created an Etsy store selling digital files. People buy the files and it’s an instant download. No upkeep for me.

What content are you selling as a download?

I did I bought it from someone else that owned it first, I really just picked up his monthly bill and moved it to a new location.
Like I said, I haven't had any maintenance cost yet, hopefully by keeping it clean and checking on it I can limit it. Got a buddy who works on A/C units who said it it is a minor fix he would do it for a case of beer and some BBQ which is a heck of a deal

Anyone here do covered calls for income? I just got started in options and admittedly don’t know all the ins and outs but I wrote 6 covered calls for March 19 exp for around ~$1000 total. Nothing breath taking but still a nice profit. Strike was above my average and I don’t hold long in this account so I can’t lose.

Check out QYLD it has an average of 11% dividend.
