Cohen wants to be Mr. Congeniality but it's also good marketing because I think Mets fans will be on his side with this one.

Straw ain't getting to .350 OBP, has no power, and will be exposed in CF

He's gonna K at a high rate, and nobody's walking a dude with his lack of power in a loaded lineup.

He'll get treated like a pitcher, and like it.

If I'm wrong as Hell about this, the Astros are likely in the WS

Straw should be in the 9 spot. Or in AAA.

Let McCormick play and develop. Can’t be any worse.

I can easily see how your thoughts of him as a hitter can play out just that way. Straw will need to have a very high contact rate to make it because you're right; he will be challenged and not walked due to lack of power.

But I think he'll be a very good defender in CF. His ideal role is probably super utility/pinch runner, and let's hope that's what he'll be if Leon works out.

Yeah pitchers are gonna go right after him because what’s the downside. He can’t really punish you.

No way Lindor is not signed at 10 years 325 M already, if Cohen doesn't use twitter

That term and amount is an incredible number.

He is not Mike Trout, and he's not an ace on a shorter term

The good news about Straws defense is it can improve with more experience whereas his hitting is pretty much what it is at this point

He’s gonna be the whipping boy in here but our lineup is good enough even with him in it and if he can just get to being an above average (eventually even better than that) CF he won’t be the issue if this team fails expectations

IMO injuries are our biggest road block. Yed, Bregs, Brantley, Correa all will likely spend some time on the IL. Which isn’t a big deal as long as we can avoid those 2-3 month stints

Agree with what wahoocs said a little while back. Ceiling is prob ALCS barring JV being a factor but it would be a pretty huge let down if we aren’t playing and competing in an ALDS come October

He’s athletic enough to be a really good defender in CF. I have a lot more hope there. I think he kinda is what he is offensively and it’s not gonna be pretty. If he can play really good defense it won’t be a huge deal

Yeah I mean ideally it won’t be much different than Jake except for the fact Jake would hit a ball seemingly 450+ feet twice a month which Straw obviously won’t do

I don't buy that. I think the issue here is one number.

$340 million

That's what Lindor wants to surpass because that's what the union and agents want to see him surpass. It's the one-up game they're playing, but they know the AAV is fair so they need more years to get past that Tatis number.

Well, I wasn't looking at it from a union standpoint, but you could be spot on, as usual

Yep. I don't even think JV's return really would matter all that much, as crazy as it seems. The lack of positional depth is a glaring weakness while the pitching depth is a vastly underrated strength.

Doing great, had a couple surgeries in the fall and got bloodwork and scans done on Dec 31 and there was no evidence of cancer

I go back again in a few weeks for routine blood work and scans and if all clear then I only have to get checked twice a year

Unfortunately my dad had a seizure 2 weeks ago and they found a tumor on his brain. Did surgery last week and it’s Glioblastoma Opening day can’t get here fast enough for him so he can have a nice distraction from things as he starts treatment (since LSU sure as hell ain’t helping him )

Really appreciate you asking, truly means a lot
