Bar scene was pretty wide open...
Speakeasy was on Stanford across from where the BREC Park is now...great bands...

How did that property lose its liquor license? I know people who were trying to get a nice restaurant in that spot in the early 90s (it's probably as nice a location in BR as there could be for that), and it had become an insurmountable hurdle by that point apparently.

No Sammy's. He didn't open until around '88. I remember the place was called Sneakers and it was a dank lounge.

Mother's Mantle on Highland used to get some decent bands.
