The best I’ve found in the Jackson, MS, area is Beagle Bagel.

Honestly? Rouse's pecan praline. I don't really like filled king cakes, but that one is the exception.

Otherwise I'm getting Haydel's or Hi Do.

What’s a good homemade king cake recipe? Anything different than just making a cinnamon roll recipe and forming it into a ring instead of slicing?

Had my first Dong Phuong last night. One cream cheese and one cinnamon. Definitely worth the hype.

It was so fresh and light, the dough melts in your mouth and the whipped cream cheese frosting is amazing. I’m spoiled now. Don’t think I can eat a dry grocery store cake ever again.
