I’ve done this route via River Road at least a dozen times. I usually take 30 south to 3115 to cut down the miles. You can certainly ride the levee top the whole way. It’s mainly compact and light gravel.
I’ve always done this ride in spring or fall. It’s best to start before 7am and on a weekend. I’ve always taken around 6 hours.
