NOTRE DAME, Indiana — University of Notre Dame Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Brian Kelly announced the addition of Marcus Freeman to his coaching staff Friday. Freeman will serve as the Bob Hinton Defensive Coordinator, and will work directly with the Irish linebackers. The hiring will be effective at the conclusion of the University’s standard employment process.
“As we looked into finding someone to run our defense, it was important to find the right fit for our program and Marcus and his family are just that,” said Kelly. “He has had great success on the field, both running a defense and in his direct work with his linebackers. Additionally, he is considered among the elite recruiters in the coaching ranks.
“The work Marcus has done elevating the programs he has been a part of speaks for itself, but equally as important is the exceptional work he has done in building relationships with his staff and players. Marcus was our top choice to become our next defensive coordinator, and we are pleased he and his family will be joining us at Notre Dame.”

No chest. Afraid of getting homesick.
Logical answer: Similar money, HCIW opportunity, staying close to home with kids

I was laughed at by you people earlier this week when I was giving you updates from the ground up here in South Bend about how he interviewed and what they pitched him.
I wish I had been wrong.

So, he took a job as lb coach instead of a DC?

Let’s hear from the retard peanut gallery blaming O for a mans wife preferring to stay closer to home with their kids and elderly family.

Smart move Marcus. Shorter move back to Columbus in a few years.

Sounds like Freeman was one of those silent commitments. O having trouble closing the deal, he should not have let Freeman out of BR without a yes or no. Same should go with recruits on signing day.
Grow a pair O!

Freeman is gutless and didn’t what to face playing the best college teams each year. He chose the easier route.
If you want to be the best, you want to play the best, unless you are Freeman.

Don’t forget coonasses... Daddy Aggie poached their DC from Notre Dame

As badly as I wanted him, I’m not sure why this is surprising. He’s from Ohio, played at OSU and has only ever coached in the Indiana and Ohio region. Plus he has 6 young kids I think. Pretty hard to move all that. Once I heard he interviewed with ND, it was a done deal for me.
