Hell no I’m not gonna feel sorry for a bunch of dudes who quit their team. As much shite as there is to throw at the NCAA, not making enough rooms for transfers is not something that is their fault.
Edit: a ton of “grass is greener” kids are about to transfer themselves out of football. Will make kids really rethink overcome hurdles and keeping on

I mean a good majority of these guys had a place to go. They had a scholarship and could’ve kept it. They chose not to. Decisions have consequences. Welcome to the real world

No I don’t feel for those that enter the portal. The high school players definitely didn’t ask for these issues though.
“He said that the real roster issues are going to come in 2022, as the exemption to be over 85 scholarship players is expected to be gone, but a majority of the roster still has an extra year. That’s going to potentially limit the amount of high school players in the class of 2022.
“What 2022 looks like is crazy,” the Group of Five head coach said. “Now that you have to get under the 85 threshold, it’s a scramble. What can you bring in in 2022? That’s a problem.

Contrary to your belief majority of kids don’t transfer because “they’re quitters” these 18-22 year old kids have a lot of stuff going on in their lives that factor into those decisions and just like how coaches leave at the drop of a hat for a multitude of reasons kids should have the same freedoms awarded to them.

A proposal being discussed now by conferences and schools is a three-prong approach to more roster flexibility and, potentially, allow more opportunity. The proposal would eliminate the “hard cap” and keep the initial counters at 25 per year, with three exceptions – injury or illness ending a career (three maximum), a player graduates early and is no longer on the roster or a player declares for the draft. All of those departures would open up a corresponding slot.

I have a lot of shite going on in my life too but as a 30 year old out of shape white guy no one is willing to foot my bill while I figure it out either.

This idea sounds like a good idea.
Let the schools have an extra scholly to replace early nfl guys etc.

They absolutely should. But... just like if you quit a job. You could get a better one, a worse one, or none at all. If a kid has a scholarship and transfers and doesn’t get a school to pick him up, my heart ain’t breaking over it.

Then get better skills if you want somebody to pay your way. These kids have worked hard to go to school for free by taking advantage of their athletic gifts and molding themselves into elite football players. They’re in a different situation than you are. Contrary to your belief there is other people’s lives outside of yours.

Is it your belief that a player that gives up a scholarship should be guaranteed one elsewhere?
Scholarships are only for 1 year as is.

I question how many seniors will take advantage of the opportunity to stay another year, the "good" ones anyway. For better or worse, any player thinking he has a chance to get drafted will hit the road. And this year's high school senior class will really get screwed as large numbers of schools did not play or only played a few games. Resulting in no tape for coaches to review. 2022 is going to be a big mess & who thinks the NCAA will know what to do and / or handle it properly?

Oh well. Don't quit your team if you are not 100% sure you are hot shite that can go where you want. It makes sense for qbs to transfer. There is only one per team and they are in high demand. Everyone else? Not so much.

If no ones willing to give them a scholarship then no I don’t really see how they are

It's not the kids in the portal. It's the kids downstream in high school that won't get an offer because other guys take 2 or 3 scholarships by transferring.

If you give up a scholarship and want to transfer to a new school, fine, but you’re paying your own way to the new school so you’re not taking up 2 scholarships in your college career.
