The speed of the 6.5 is going to be a lot higher than the .308

And what does that equate to?

The .308 does have more energy at 100yds but it is not a significant amount since the bullet is moving slower.

I am not trying to knock the .308. It's a wonderful round and I have 3 rifles in .308. I also won't knock you if you just want another rifle.

However if you think you will be getting a magical amount of more energy or "knock down power" with it, you won't.

My son and I have used a 6.8spc and a 6.5 grendel on the last several deer we have shot. Every single one was DRT.

you would be better served by just keeping you're 6.5cm..Ive killed a shite-load of deer and pigs with mine. If you want more gun for whatever reason you believe you might need it, the 300 winmag will be WAYYY more than enough for whatever you think you might need (the 6.5cm is more than enough btw)..I own both and have shot hundreds of rounds thru both, its been a few years since ive fired a round out of bigbad. I got the 6.5 CM when it was really new, there was not a whole lot of info out there so I basically had to do alot of shooting with the very limited variety of ammo available at the time..I shoot my 6.5cm every chance I get, its more than enough rifle for any game or just ringing steel anywhere in North America

Drop that rifle in a pink-camo stock.

Hold, I wasn’t knocking your wife’s shooting ability, but there’s not a silver bullet no matter what the caliber is. Like everyone said before me, a bigger caliber brings bigger recoil and for someone not comfortable with it, more chances of that bad shot. Hell I pulled my shot and I was shooting out of a box. That was with my 6.5cm, and the deer still didn’t run far. I got rid of my 7mag a few years for two reasons, it was heavy as hell and kicked like a mule. I have a 300wm now but is has a threaded barrel so you can believe if I’m shooting it it will be suppressed. Just find her a gun she is comfortable with, and let her shoot as much as possible. .22 to .338, it won’t matter if it’s a bad shot.

Why would a new Hunter woman need more than a 6.5? The difference of energy between that, .308, and 7mm-08 is not even noticeable.

Awaiting the pending .338 win mag suggestion.
