He’s 100% correct. True CFB fans saw the trend starting with the BCS. The obsession with crowning a national champ has taken away some of the excitement.

CFB became popular because of regional rivalries. My team is better than yours. We have the trophy in our case. We have a better fight song. Etc. Yay, we won the Big Ten and are going to Pasadena. Sweet, we won the SEC and are tasting the Sugar.

All of that has been diminished because unless you are near the top of Tuesday’s rankings, it doesn’t matter. That attitude has filtered from the media, to the coaches who bailed on teams, and now to players.
