Locked on Bulls discussed a 3 team Jrue trade with Denver that seems unlikely, but I saw Jake make a comment that he really liked it. Thoughts?

Teams recieve:

Nuggets: Jrue Holiday
Bulls: Michael Porter Jr, #13, #22
Pels: Markkanen, Harris, #4

I expect people here aren't going to love it.

I don't hate it. I would be ok with it. But I expect it won't be loved here.

Depends on what you think Markannen can become. He can space the floor but apparently his defense is meh. Harris is a good defender but his offense hasn’t looked great the past couple years. And at 4, I would think we could land Killian Hayes or Tyrese Haliburton.

I like Markkanen a lot, more than many on here, but he has some real downsides, one year left on rookie deal so you have to make a decision quick, he is not good defensively, and he has injury issues. I like the fit next to Zion on offense but not on defense.

Not bad. I could live with that. I think Markkanen is a bit overvalued in the deal given he only has 1 year left on his deal.

Wouldn't like that at all.

Markkanen is not worth that much too me. I'm not giving up Jrue and #13 to get back Markkanen and #4. Harris is a salary filler, and i'm someone that likes Harris.

So the 3 teams we have discussed the most.

I wonder what "to an extent" means.

In the case of Miami, it could mean they have an offer out there but aren't willing to give up what they would need to like Herro.

In the case of Dallas and Atlanta, it could mean they are active as 3rd parties in a multi-team deal.

So I pulled up the actual Zach Lowe article and that really isn't what he said:

quote:

The bidding for Holiday and Beal figures to center on Denver, Golden State, and Brooklyn -- and to some extent Atlanta, Miami, and Dallas. The Hawks might try nabbing Holiday using their No. 6 pick -- which they would be open to trading for veteran help, per several sources -- but I don't see that alone getting it done. Would they attach one of their young wings?

He says "bidding" and those team "figure" to be involved. AKA he is guessing who would be in the running, and its 3 teams we've talked about ad naseum.

He also goes to shite all over all of the deals these teams would likely try to make.

These three teams have players that are VERY familiar with Jrue Holiday and what he's capable of. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have the likes of KD, Steph, Murray, etc. vouching for him.

Dallas has #18, and then they don't have another 1st they can trade until 2025. The only player they have that has positive value is Porzingis, and i doubt they are interested in trading him.
They also are already over the cap by a good bit, so even if they acted like a 3rd team, they'd have to match salaries.

I honestly have no idea what they are offering and what they are trying to get out of any Jrue trade. They sure as hell aren't getting Jrue with their assets, and i don't even know what they could offer to unload Wiggins either b/c i wouldn't want to give up #2 or even #13 to take back whatever salary match crap they'd give us.
Unless they were happy with taking Wiggins and some 2nds for Hardaway and some other filler like Delon Wright, I can't see them having any part in a Jrue trade

Somehow teams we never expect to be involved or trade for a player...trade for a player. It happens a lot.

I'm not totally discounting anyone.

But that tweet very much mischaracterized what Lowe said in his article.

I guess that quote is referring to this from the Zach Lowe article out today.

quote:

The other teams aren't listed as facilitators but teams that don't have as much to give up. Zach's basic conclusion on every team is they all want Jrue and have pieces good enough to get Jrue but he's not sure they'd give up their prized asset to get him. LINK

The more I read that Zach Lowe article the more it rains on our parade. We definitely seem to be overvaluing him.

For instance he thinks we would likely need to give 13 with Jrue to get 2 and Wiggins...not without 13 and more value from GS like we assume.

he pretty much takes a giant dump on all of our potential trade partners offers while simultaneously making me think the value is lower than i expected.

Yeah, not at all.

Like I said, he pretty much takes a giant steaming dump on all of our proposals and prospects.

I think he's wrong.
