In Massachusetts and it’s been outlawed for people to kids do trick or treat. If you have the lights on and candy out, you will get a fine. I keep telling my kid, in front of the liberal in-laws, that next year is not an election year so he will be able to trick or treat.

Um....no? Link the ordinance. I know plenty of people leaving candy out and doing some sort of version of trick or treating.

WTF? Can they fine people for something that is not against the law? There should have been some type of campaign to promote putting out candy. Challenge the state.. See if they are willing to have to process all of those fines.

And what will they do if someone doesn't pay?
