Possibly. The first weekend they were there one of them was arrested for ripping open the locked minibar and between the alcohol and damage he caused they said it was $2100. He was arrested.

They would ask for money constantly from the locals giving them a sob story about being from Lake Charles (they tried it on my wife and me a few times) and this is exactly what they would spend it on.

Wonder why it was decided that they needed to be in such nice hotels.

I’m all for helping people out in need but these LC evacuees need to go. They’re dumping down the quarter more than I’ve ever seen living here. It’s legit a scary place, even during the day. Where are the fema trailers?

The Hilton and Intercontinental were getting their normal rates including weekend rates of $300 per night from what the hotel manager of the hotel we stayed at told me.
He lied. Or had no idea.
Its a solid rate in times of covid but I assure you no rooms are going for $300 even for a night in this program.

Probably to help fill some rooms that have mostly sat empty for nearly a year now.

Plus big hotels tend to be nice and you want to get a few hundred in each building. Plus large nice hotels were more likely to have staff at hand to handle this.
It’s hard to service 90 different Super 8s that have fired everybody due to covid when you could hit 30 solid properties in close proximity to each other instead.

Yea well spreading them out like this cost a ton of money and resource. Each hotel had to have two troopers on duty and an ambulance sitting outside 24/7. There were 5 hotels within a block of one another where we stayed so that was 10 troopers and 5 ambulances wasted sitting there getting OT I am sure.

Yep, my insurance will pay up to 5K if need be.

Aren't the Springs by a massive mobile home park?
Maybe South LC will have a new high crime area that doesn't have a fish as a street name.

i thought they were the ones by the new Kroger. i could be wrong

I’ve seen this first hand. Tenants living for free in a hotel and not wanting to pay rent for a house that is livable and has electricity and water. Might have some damage but nothing significant. It’s easier to just freeload for another month. Blows my mind how some can live life not trying to pave their own way. This town is still a mess but there is plenty of money to be made if someone is willing to work. These folks don’t realize how much that could have if they tried and used this as an opportunity to get ahead instead of freeload.

really big complex in a pretty nice area of LC
if that whole thing went section 8, it would be a black hole. like Gardere for LC
