Funny how you remember certain things....Davis was trying to decide between us and Bama. The night before he was to announce his decision he dreamed about Tigers so the next day he chose LSU and told everyone why, the dream. He took a lot of Bama heat for that.

fab 5 frosh of 92:
Davis-transfer to uab
Toomer-stayed
Artie Moore-transfer to ole miss
Jay Johnson-transfer to grambling
David butler-moved to d

Jay Johnson was the best one...he had one pretty good year for us until he got hurt (from what I remember)

My favorite Toomer highlight is when he was standing outside of Sports and I fight broke out between my friends and some other dudes. Somehow in the middle of the fight Toomer's sweater got ripped by on of the other guys. I remember eveything standing still for about 5 seconds and Toomer said "my gradma got me this sweater" and kicked that dude's arse. It was great.

EDIT: Now if that stupid Ole Miss bitch Meghan Blalock had written a column about how trashy LSU fans are at Sports Illustrated/Sports/Sportz/Reggie's, she'd have a damn good point.

Jay was a good back. Butler moved to DB and did well. Toomer is in coaching and still has a few Ga. high school records that haven't been broken.

That Robert Davis played at Logansport before transferring to Evangel. At one time he had the Superdome Record for the most receiving yards in a game (223) and TD receptions (5). Another kid that played with him and also transferred with him was Cisco Perkins.

Jermain Sharp,

Sharp wasn't in that group, that kid could turn on a dime and give you change. Ended up at Southern U. MVP of the Bayou Classic. What a loss.

I don't remember Johnson playing much in 92. Could he have been a Prop 48 guy? He was the best back in 93, then he flunked out and went to Grambling.

Curley had a great first recruiting class - I think we were all looking forward to getting back on top - just goes to show, it takes much more than just good players on the squad to make a championship team.

I remember when Curley left everyone still thought he was a great recruiter....... Just a real shitty coach.

Jermaine Sharp might have been the best high school running back I've ever seen.

Cecil Collins
Kevin Faulk
Jesse Burton I think, the guy that ran all over us in 96 from Natchitoches Central
Mark Henderson
and of course...Tommy Banks.

sadly, I never saw him in high school

he was great--I only saw him twice in high school, but Sharp was more impressive to me

He was unbelievable that year.

Mark Henderson

I had forgotten about him. Never saw him play live, but hung out with him one night after he beat some dude up outside Cooter Bay.

Tommy Banks

Tommy really was an amazing high school football player. People who only saw him at LSU might have forgotten that.

And I used to watch Jermaine with Tommy when he transfered to OCS. It's hard to put him into the right perspective as the other guys, because he was playing against inferior competion and I was just younger. But no running back ever wowed me like Jermaine did.

Carl, you are right, for me he was one of the best. It was a loss on his part. The kid could have been playing on Sundays. Didn't want to put in the time.

This kid tore shite up down at South Terrebonne in high school. He single-handedly carried that team to win the state championship that year. From what I remember, he did nothing notable at LSU.

Butler broke a leg while at LSU and that had a lot to do with him never being a significant player.
