Prolonged closures at Disney's California-based theme parks and limited attendance at its open parks has forced the company to lay off 28,000 employees across its parks, experiences and consumer products division.

They'll be rehired down the road, but they can't stay furloughed for a year.

30,000 people who would've been better off dead from the virus....

Edit for the downvotes...this is what we've essentially been told from our governments. That everything else can fall by the wayside as long as you don't get this super-deadly virus. Only, the fact remains that people are surviving the virus and still losing "their lives" because their financial support is being pulled from under them. So yes, I posted in a sarcastic manner, but many of these people would have less to worry about if they had just gotten the virus and died than having to face a life without a job and bleak opportunities for other employment since our governments seem hell bent on keeping the world shut down.

Wonder if that’s why the flag was at half mast when I left Animal Kingdom today.

Incorrect. The layoffs were due to the parks moving to Texas.
