Barrett Bailey: potential preferred walk-on?

Dandy Don says he's potentially a preferred walk-on at QB. What is a "preferred walk-on" and how does or does not that impact scholarship limits, if any?

if he's the same 6-5 U High QB i saw on TV i was very impressed.

He's got a cannon. could easily play on scholly for ULL, MSU, Tulane, etc.

I think they invite you to join the team (not having to try out) as a walk on and it doesn't effect the scholarship numbers.

Preferred walk-ons are not on football scholarship. Basically the coaches are saying pay your own way but you have a spot on the team.
