Just a few years ago. I remember his dad was in the mlb. Was it tatis jr? Or is my memory all fricked up?

Zach Von Rosenberg was on campus and had already attended freshman orientation in 2009 when he agreed to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates for a signing bonus of $1.2 million. He was drafted in the 6th round by Pittsburgh.

Every time I look at the names that passed up college, I can’t help but wonder how much more exciting College baseball would be with those studs playing.

Mac Marshall was the one that pissed Mainieri off the most.

Zach Lee was in summer school on football scholarship with plans to also play baseball. He participated in two-a-day football practice as the No. 1 draftee by the LA Dodgers. After the morning football practice on the last day to sign MLB contract, Les Miles told him to not worry about afternoon practice because he had a big decision to make. The kid really wanted to play both. That afternoon the Dodgers upped the offer to $5.25 million. He signed and he and the Miles family remained friends had stayed in touch.
$5.25 million....and minus taxes he still has most of it invested for the long haul.

Mac Marshall, by the way, has been in the minors since 2015 and has not made it past single-A.

Trevor storey was a signee
The ones that are worried about money out of high school usually don’t make it
You still have to have incredible drive to stay on the path to mlb

What does this mean?
How can you blame a kid for turning down millions to sign his name?
Mainieri has even said as much, what pissed him off about Marshall was that he told Paul his number that would get him to sign, enrolled in school, then signed for a lesser number and didn't tell anyone at LSU.

The deal with Marshall was that he didn’t sign, went to school for a month, then transferred to juco so he could be draft eligible again the following year.

Deshields was a first round pick, there was never a doubt that he would sign.

Pretty sure it was Cairo. If I remember correctly his parents were in CPM’s office telling him they weren’t going to sign and then walked and he signed a couple of hours later. Pretty sure this was the last day to sign.
