Everyone that enjoys wingshooting should go once.
Your ammo bill is the biggest expense of the trip. Argentina beef and wine are an unexpected bonus. No matter how tough you are bring shooting gloves and a shoulder pad a few days in fingers and shoulders are bruised. It’s a spectacular sight and experience.

A guy I know has done this hunt in Argentina. This matches his description.

It’s a bucket list hunt for me, I hope to bring my son for a graduation present in the next couple years.
Buddies have been there and Mexico as well and they all told me that whatever I do don’t shoot more than 2 cases per hunt. They say that you Get so excited that you don’t even realize that by day three you can’t even lift your gun and shoulder starts bleeding.
I have seen the blue shoulders after they came back and when I go I will bring a over the shoulder pad and follow their advice.

Probably not typo. A lot of operations will give you 2-3 bird boys. One to two are for reloading your gun(s). All you do is point and shoot all damn day.
I want you to really think about firing a shotgun every 7.5 seconds for 8 consecutive hours, because those are the numbers he's talking. That's not stopping to take a piss or drink a beer or anything. It would be a difficult task if you were actively trying to shoot that many rounds

I just don't have a desire to kill hundreds of doves
Many other hunts on my list before that

Never been dove hunting there but lived there for a short time after my divorce. What an interesting country. Really nice people. I crossed the country by train twice just to really see it and get to know people. I was basically adopted by a family on a train across Patagonia, they fed me very fresh homemade food and shared their whisky the whole trip. I think the fried chicken they fed me was probably walking around their property a few days before.
If you do go down, beware that there is a lot of poverty and one should be wary of surroundings. But I never felt threatened. The hospitality is quite good.
Avoid the tourist trap restaurants, especially those under 9 Julio (the big main road) and head for Don Julio for a really good steak dinner.
Try the morcilla - blood sausage. It's amazing.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm not a terribly proficient wing shooter but from all the videos I've watched in some of them you could literally just point and pull the trigger.
Any of you guys have ideas on what to expect expense wise? I know you could make it a $10K trip with all the add-ons but I doubt we'll do any of that. Maybe a Dorado trip but that's about it.

You can do the trip for well under 10k depending on how you do it. Chances are you can shoot as much as you want if you desire but you don’t have too. Shells are typically around $15/box and that’s by far the biggest expense. In country other wise things are cheap- especially the wine!
The one thing I wish they did was provide the illusion someone was eating all these doves.

You can do the trip for well under $10k. I seem to recall paying $900 for biz class on Aerolineas out of MIA, up to 1300 on one trip. Coach could be a lot less.
Also, do not bother with expensive hotels down there, you can find one for $60-70/night that is reasonable and clean. Recoleta Luxury Boutique Hotel was fine for me, El Presidente was a bit threadbare but will be just fine as well. If you want to drop low-mid three digits you can but it's a waste.

Just amazing how many peanuts, soybeans, and corn we spill every year at gathering time. Southeast Alabama
It is a damn shame with the money farmers spend on harvesting equipment that the damn stuff is soooo leaky....

In doing a little research on the topic today I found countless articles declaring doves practically a nuisance down there due to the amount of grains, etc grown in southern S. America.
I suspect they are and there is probably little to no natural predation and very little hunting pressure outside of folks coming from other countries...shooting a $.20 shotgun shell for 2 OZ of protein is something the average person ain't gonna do often when $.20 actually means something to them....
I have never seen or heard it about dove but pigeons are most definitely a nuisance and carry all manner of ill shite from farm to farm...Dove are the same animal for all practical purposes they surely do the same thing in areas where they are thick enough to be a nuisance. I know my front porch in New Mexico would be littered with droppings and egg casings and dead baby dove from late February through late October because the damned things breed like flies in New Mexico...but they have a LOT of predation from coyotes and bobcats and house cats and ring tailed cats and road runners and snakes and all sorts of shite that eat them when they are young and when they are grown...but there are still plenty to shoot!

I have. Great time.
Everybody warns about your shoulder pain, so wear a recoil pad. But that wasn't my biggest problem. Loading my own automatic killed my thumb. Moved to either the bird boy loading or an over/under after the first day.
Most folks go to Cordoba, which is great for doves, but I highly recommend a place in Santa Fe. You have all the dove and perdiz and parakeets you could ever want to shoot, plus you can go on an awesome duck hunt (I think the limit is 25 per person).
Estancia LaCriolla is where I went. First class all the way. Here's the link.

I could eat morcilla all day. Avoid chinchulin, chewy cow intestines that does NOT grow on you if keep eating

yeah this was far worse than the shoulder pain. wrap your thumb with tape. doesn't work 100% and you will have to rewrap a few times, but it helps

Never been but almost went a few years ago
We always went to Mexico but then the bird population started to dwindle so we started doing combo dove/duck hunts but even that was sometimes lackluster. The lodges were nothing fancy but did the trick.
A few of the guys started talking about Argentina and I priced up the flights and lodging and we were about to pull the trigger but a few guys backed out so we never went. The lodges looked awesome and spectacular hunting. No one really talks about it much anymore.
I’d still love to go. I miss the Mexico hunts. Lots of vague memories.... lol.

Went a few years back. Unbelievable! It can be done for around 5 G’s the more you shoot the more it costs obviously.
