Just finished rewatch of BSG for first time since it aired. BSG >>>>>>> Star Trek

The writing was impeccable (particularly in the first couple of seasons) and the battles, SFX, music were on point for something produced in 2003. The story had a defined arc and while the last season was so-so and there were LOTS of filler episodes in that 80+ hour series everything moved along pretty well.
[spoilers]
I watched Picard maybe 4 months ago and was struck by awful the SFX (in particular spaceships and battles) were by comparison and how terrible the acting was for something produced in 2019. Also in many ways Picard ripped off the basic theme from BSG down to the secret AI planet/colony at the end. BSG is on a whole different level than most of the ST series which seem determined to mimic the 1980s star trek TNG format.
I watched it back in the day and I'm shocked how little I remember. I know I watched the whole thing because bits and pieces were familiar (the piano notes, galactica flexing in that final jump, return of the original cylons) but its amazing how much i forgot.
I'm no BSG homo, in fact I remember not really enjoying it that much the first time around but this is DEFINITELY one to put on your rewatch list if you haven't.
so say we all

Battlestar Galactica was the finest show the Syfy Channel ever produced. It did have its flaws but by and large the acting, writing, production design, and effects were all on point.

Deep Space Nine comes close, but you are correct.

Which series? Against Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, and Picard? Sure.
TOS, TNG, and DS9 are still gold tier sci fi television.

I watched Picard
Picard isn't Star Trek.

The new Battlestar Galactica was the most overrated crap 7 can think of

What do you mean by Star Trek? The original series? All the series combined? The movies what? You mention Picard, that and Discovery are complete garbage imo.
Yes, BSG has a series long story arch. That's a development for TV shows that became more common around 20 years ago. Star Trek (aka TOS) and its various sequels/spinoffs were all before that became the main narrative structure for shows. Star Trek was straight up a one episode on its own show as was TNG basically (minus a few 2 parter "cliff hangers"). DS9 started that way but had more a season long story with the Dominion War in later seasons.
