Most of the people will be moving our way soon, dead set on "change" for all of us.

These are really beautiful and fun cities to go be a tourist in and immerse yourself for a week.

Unless you're talking about the current state of things with riots and BLM. Then yes you make a good point.

Chicago has been a city of civil unrest, crime, and violence pretty much since its founding.

I have an old Chicago Tribune article from 1896 about my great great grandmother scaring off 2 armed robbers from the store her and my great great grandfather owned. It was the 3rd attempted armed robbery there in as many weeks. The eventually left Chicago because of the unchecked violence.

Well, yeah. At the height of the mob, they were killing each other in the streets as well. So that's not anything new.

I meant more so going before what's currently going on (it was two summers ago). But there was still violence there, I was just mindful of where I went and didn't have any issues despite traveling by myself. Once things calm down, it'll be as it was.

Chicago is awesome to visit. Been a while but I'll go back. Seattle I want to fly in to visit a little while then go camping/backpacking in the mountains. Only reason I would go to Portland is if we were flying in and picking up a friend to go camping in Oregon or NorCal

Make the list longer and add:
San Francisco
Minneapolis
Detroit

One of these is not like the others however, if you have a need to live in a cardboard box and shite in the streets, SF is for you.

The problem with these cities, and NYC is on the same road, is that the people keep electing the same stupid moronic leadership even in the face of demonstrable failure. It is mind bending how stupid people are.

For example, isn't it wonderful how the "progressives" in Seattle made the most stupid decision to wipe out the police budget, without consulting the police, and in the process cause a black female police chief to retire in disgust.

So progressive!!

I've been to all of those cities multiple times and always enjoyed myself. I don't have to agree with the local politics to enjoy visiting places.

You do have to realize that the city outside of a small downtown area is still a damn great place to visit. I love all the neighborhoods with their little mini main streets and all of the bars/restaurants, etc.

The whole area is beautiful. Not saying I want to move there, but I would have no problem going and visiting my family that lives there.

You forgot Minneapolis

Been once, it was fun; but when I tell the story I'll always specify it was pre-2020 Minneapolis and not the wasteland that area will eventually become

From what I've heard from people that live in Minneapolis it has been bad. Portland isn't bad it is just being used Fox because it is a liberal hotbed. Nothing but a bunch of granola Karen's protesting there and pretty confined.

Never heard of that place, but just did some reading on it and learned something new. Thanks for that.

Video of it.

In all seriousness, you sound like a pretty big pussy. Would you agree with that assessment? Are you generally a fearful individual?

Chicago actually has a beautiful and clean downtown area for the most part. All of the area north of Chicago all the way to Lake Forest along Lake Michigan is nothing but $. It's only the gang controlled south side that is bad. Can't say that North Baton Rouge isn't almost the same thing.

Seattle is great, so is Chicago. Portland is not my cup of tea but just outside of it is awesome. Letting what happens in a small area dictate thoughts of an entire city is like saying I won't go to NOLA, BHam, BR, Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Columbia, Charleston.....
