We are hiring for an IT position.

We have gotten a couple recent graduates resumes in. I hopped on facebook and looked them up. They had their facebook posts locked down. They forgot to lock down their friends list though.

A gander at their friends list had 25% of them with BLM and rainbow profile pics. Birds of a feather flock together.

Don’t totally discount them, my wife (no pics) follows these yo-yos for laughs.

25% is pretty low. I don’t defriend for their political views.

For a second there I though you were going to say “elementary school.”

A smart person, if they are going to use social media that requires the use of a name, will have an account with their actual name that is polished and professional, and a separate one with a pseudonym where their actual opinions are expressed.

I could see one or two. When its that many its a pattern.

You sure as hell won't see any marxist BS on any of my friends profile pics.

You’ve got to really have a screw loose if you’re throwing out an application because of someone’s Facebook friends.

As a general rule, I don't hire recent graduates.

I recently deleted my FB (cool story bro), but while it was active, I had many friends who expressed opinions that are retarded, across the spectrum. What they said was no reflection upon me.

You should be able to discriminate based on political beliefs.

It has worked so far for Twitter and Google/YouTube.

I always wondered why you didn't hire me.

Seriously though, Chicken should make a job's board on here. I use slowtwitch occasionally (not into triathlons anymore though). One thing I liked about their site is the jobs board.

Back when I had Facebook a number of my "friends" were from high school. Couldn't tell you what their political leanings were. Seems like a flawed filter you're applying.

Keep in mind that some of these younger people that grew up with Facebook probably have a much more expansive "friends" list than someone who was already an old chap when Facebook came out. That 25% doesn't really mean much when you've been adding all your classmates through grade school and then some.

Luckily for them i'm not the one that does the hiring and firing. I wouldn't give them a chance in hell though. I don't associate or want anything to do with any lefty filth. I had to work with one a while back. He worked harder at figuring out how to not do work than actually working. He bitched about everything and had an entitled attitude. 2 months in he was bitching like he had been the guy holding the fort down for the last 10 years.

I’m as conservative as they come, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have lots of friends who are progressive. 80% of recent college grads are progressive. Your policy of screwing over qualified applicants due to their “friend”’s political beliefs is idiotic and insane. It’s pretty much impossible to be in your 20’s on social media without having progressive friends.

I think long and hard before hiring anyone that is younger. Their head is always so full of mush here in florida...........hard to believe they will be reliable.

Our company hired a college guy this summer and he was a really good worker.Plenty of common sense and didn’t mind working hard and the best thing about it, he was a conservative.
