The companies I am aware of that give a vehicle allowance of around $1k per month. This covers the note, insurance, maintenance, etc.
Those that get a company vehicle get around $1k less in pay, per month, than the company would be willing to pay if no vehicle was required. They are "Giving" you a company vehicle in lieu of more pay.
There needs to be an on/off switch for when you are off the clock. Having a GPS unit installed and not telling you aboot it is sneaky, no matter how you look at it.

My old company did it to me. Mine magically stopped working. And yes it pissed me off when I found out about it. I would screw with my boss because he would randomly call me and i would tell him I was across town.
