If/when hospitals start closing due to decrease of patients

Will this finally open some people’s eyes as to the absurdity of the overreaction to the coronavirus? During a “pandemic” in which one of the biggest concerns pushed at the beginning and even still, is hospitals being “overrun” with patients. Hospitals across the country are hemorrhaging money and laying off staff due to “decreased patient load.” LINK LINK

The ERs around BR have laid off docs or cut their hours since all of this has started

Hell, Huntsville Hospital in AL laid off over 2,000 people when we closed down the state too soon. No word on how many are back to work now.

There is no decrease in patients at area hospitals. On the contrary, most general community hospitals are full. Many are on divert due to lack of capacity (beds) and/or capability (staffing). I am not aware of any hospitals that have cut or laid off direct patient care nurses, whether critical care or floor nurses. More of those nurses are needed. Because many facilities have had to cut the elective surgery schedules, there are possibly OR nurses and ancillary staff that have had hours cut. But most certainly not in the direct patient care areas.

The hospitals are not making money during this time because elective surgeries are not being done.
They do have Covid patients that cost more to care for because of the extra precautions they are taking. Plus not being able to do the money making part of the hospital business is hurting them.
