Good luck filling this jobs! An emergency counselor, nurse, or social worker? We can barely fill those jobs in secure settings. Liberals are idiots

The city council just up'd Amazon's taxes, causing them to accelerate the move to Bellevue.

Got into an argument with someone that doesn’t understand basic economics about this too. He wanted to basically tax amazon at like 75% because “no one needs to make that much money”. When I explained they would simply leave he balked at it saying they couldn’t just do that.

They are worth more money than most of the worlds countries, yes they can move some operations

Here is what the people in Seattle are so wound up about.

LINK

A mentally ill man WITH TWO KNIVES is chasing people on a city street and trying to stab them. Police respond and try to taser him and use a K9 on him to no avail. They finally shoot him when he tries to kill one of the officers. It’s terrible for everyone involved. Someone explain to me how an unarmed “expert” is going to handle this.

Then the members of the city counsel should be jailed as (nearly) enemies of the city.

They're indirectly advocating the destruction of the city.

Breaking news: most criminals are “mentally ill”. Why do you think they are criminals in the first place? Most murderers, while maybe it straight up having a medical diagnoses, have some sort of mental disorder that is why they are off mentally enough to murder someone.

They’ll change their tune the first time one of the council members gets their house burglarized and it takes police hours to respond to the call, if they even come at all due to extreme manpower shortages

Great. Lets put nurses and social workers in danger with no way to defend themselves when one of these people having a mental crisis is armed, suicidal, and full of drugs.

Those of us who live up here have to deal with this craziness every day in the news. At least I live south of Seattle. This lady is so far left, I'm surprised it's not her idea in the first place. She let the city go to shite and no one wants any of it. The silent majority is fuming, even the leftist ones.

Long but devastating the state of Seattle. They actually try and attack issue using models that worked better

Nah, the police chief there is good people. IMO, you are taking what she said out of context. I have never heard her say anything that wasn't 100% on point.

The minority didn't elect her or the city council. You act surprised when you elect a socialist, and that politician turns out to be a socialist?

My only concern is, the idiots with means to leave, will eventually do so, and keep voting the same way where ever they land. I don't really care if places like Seattle and Portland turn into a steaming pile of dog shite, just as long as it it contained there and used as an example of, what not to do.

Councilmember Andrew Lewis has proposed legislation to use some of the policing budget for a new mental health and substance abuse program Not a terrible idea, and this is at least a legitimate problem that needs attention, but you can't throw the baby out with the bathwater you braindead count

I do agree with this one part. There have been steps taken in Florida to specially train a small ‘force’ of officers with de-escalation tactics for the true mentally ill. They’re still officers, but they have a special skill set for when someone is completely off their rocker. It’s worked very well to get them in a home and treated instead of in a cell drooling or hiding under a bed in physchotic episode.
The book Crazy goes deeper into it and is worth a read.

Other than that, I think the defund the police movement is stupid and begging for an explosion of street violence.

How are they going to diagnose a mental health crisis? The caller?

And how many police killings of citizens would have had a non armed person respond rather than an officer?

So are they planning to contract home health companies for this service? Can’t imagine the billing charges to offer 24 hour professional services...

ding ding

It's all optics. This proposal shuffles money around calling the same thing a different name.

NYC mayor tried to pull the same thing. See I cut the police budget!!! When in reality he just moved funding for those officers to the education budget.

We’re about to get to watch the death of a major city in real time at a scale that perhaps has never happened before in this country. I’m thinking Detroit but accelerated exponentially
