Star outfielder Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are deep into negotiations on a long-term contract, sources tell ESPN. While the language of the deal is not completed, the expectation is that Betts will be signing a massive deal with the Dodgers in the coming days.
LETS GOOOOO

Friedman is the best executive in baseball and I dont think its very close
he has built such a machine when it comes to player devo that we can reset our tax while winning almost 200 games while doing so, can trade major young pieces for a one year rental with no real fear of that ruining our minor system long term, can feel good about overpaying said one year rental to commit long term knowing that even if it costs us a legitimate piece going forward…we will just simply be able to have an acceptable internal replacement
well done. well fricking done

On this same note, I wish more teams operated this way when it comes to bringing players up to the majors. To me, service time manipulation is an admittance that you don't think your player development dept can consistently produce enough talent to compete.

Including 2020, the new deal is expected to keep Mookie Betts in a Dodger uniform for 13 years at more than $380 million

Bet Cardinals Under
Starting pitching is nailz, bullpen is a mess. Guys who needed a spring training, came late to camp, got covid, or were in poor game shape.
They have slow starting hitters, or should i say tortoise starting hitters. They are already struggling to hit.
No one is going to pitch to goldy, so his bat will be meaningless.
SELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL on Cardinals

I disagree. They are trading control of 6 months of Player X in his 26-year-old season for only 2 months in his 22-year-old season. Why wouldn’t they do this if he wasn’t a need at the beginning of his 1st season? I absolutely hate this for the players and think it’s something they should argue to legislate against somehow in the next CBA. Until then, teams are almost forced to do it it’s such a no-brainer.
Unfortunately, however, the MLBPA is dominated by guys who are already past this issue and into their 2nd contract, so they tend to only really be willing to sacrifice for things that affect them currently or may in the future. You see it in the NFL and NBA unions too—after they are already in the league, they care less about protecting the rights of rookies coming in. Which is certainly understandable.

Sources: MLB and union are re-engaging on the possibility of expanded playoffs for this season. Has to be done before first pitch 25 hours from now, but there seems to be optimism. Hope was to go from 10 playoff teams to 16.
