Survey
Here is our chance to let the state know how we feel on the proposed creel changes. It took a little over 5 minutes for me.

Am I wrong in assuming the pogey boats do far more damage than all other things combined?

I’d be ok with a 14”-19” slot.

I guess they'd didn't get enough responses on the randomly selected emails earlier this year.

I'm hoping they make the most drastic changes at least for a while.

I took the survey, but I still believe that we will see a 15/12 inch regulation very soon. The problem in my area is the openings of the Spillway and Mardi Gras pass. If you can find good water, you will find trout in numbers.

Very surprised 15 over 12” was not an option. That’s my hope.

IMHO throwbacks account for a huge dead loss. I mentioned LOWERING the min size to 10" or 11" AND decreased the limit to 15.
This would basically allow you to keep the first 15 fish you catch. Drastically reducing the dead loss from weeding out school trout under the birds.
I wouldn't be opposed to added a more than 5 over 20" or 22" on the top end also.
Increasing the minimum size is not the answer in my opinion. Keep it the same or lower it an inch. It's incredible how many 10.5"-11" fish in those schools.

I decided to register at TD after seeing this topic.
I think we should leave things just as they are.
First off we should take all these numbers of pounds of catch by the LDWF with a large grain of salt. I know they are putting together numbers from surveys and statistical models but I do not know a single person that has ever had their catch weighed and recorded by the LDWF. They really do not know what the catch is.
Second the previous two years had to have been impacted by the cold winters we had--unusually cold.
This year is the best trout year I have had in ten years. It has been great. I have been 8-10 times since the first of January and caught limits or near limits every time and I do not believe I have thrown back a half dozen under sized fish.
I am no great fisherman and I know a lot of people fish more than I do BUT I suspect most license holder fish a LOT less than I have this spring.
Louisiana has a much better fishery than do other Gulf Coast states. Just because they have lower limits should not impact us.
If they take the fish away from us they will never give them back. Look at snapper---you can't hardly catch other species any more at the close rigs because you can't get your bait through the snapper yet we can only keep two. I quit off shore altogether after an opening day trip. Had my two 5 minutes after pulling up to a rig and could not catch another species because the snapper were so thick.
