Arkansas, South Korea commit to economic cooperation

Not sure what to make of this but I saw "Standard Lithium" and that Huckabee Sanders "also met with Hyundai and Kia executives, as well as Jin Roy Ryu, chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries and chairman and CEO of Poongsan Group, one of the largest metal manufacturers in the world" so thought I'd drop this here in this slow season. Back to waiting for April royalty

A little late night SLI info drop....

LINK

Standard Lithium Ltd. (“Standard Lithium” or the “Company”) (TSXV:SLI) (NYSE American:SLI) (FRA:S5L), a leading near-commercial lithium development company, is pleased to announce that it has successfully installed a commercial-scale Direct Lithium Extraction (“DLE”) column at its Demonstration Plant near El Dorado, Arkansas. The column is a LiPRO™ Lithium Selective Sorption (“LSS”) unit, supplied by Koch Technology Solutions, LLC (“KTS”).

The column has been installed and integrated with the Company’s existing Demonstration Plant to test and derisk the design for commercial applications of the LiPRO™ LSS technology. It is the same size and design as those that the Company intends to use (in multiple trains) in its commercial applications for the Phase 1A and South West Arkansas projects (as described in the Company’s recent Definitive Feasibility Study for the Phase 1A project and Preliminary Feasibility Study for the South West Arkansas project).......

This column has been in operation for a little over a month now. It's an upgrade from what they were using in their initial pilot plant, but not by much. They would need A LOT of these columns in place for this operation to be commercially viable, which raises a lot of questions about whether their pilot plant results are scalable. SLI's focus remains on Magnolia (Southwest Arkansas), not so much on Phase 1A on the Lanxess site.

And it’s not even theirs

I wish they would come out and publish the numbers so we know how inferior their tech actually is compared to Koch’s

“The long-term operation of our Demo Plant has been crucial in replicating and understanding the real-world dynamic conditions of continuous commercial-scale operations,” said Dr. Robinson. “With our partner Koch Technology Solutions, we have been able to tailor and optimise the multi-step flowsheet that will allow the Plant to be scaled for commercial production. The knowledge we have on-hand from over four years of operations, combined with an optimised flowsheet and now a commercial-scale DLE column, puts us in a strong position as we continue to advance our projects.”

Dr. Robinson added: “One of the fundamental findings of the Demonstration Plant is the necessity of long-duration, on-site continuous processing of real brine. Our Demo Plant handles real Smackover brine directly from the resource, whereas in traditional small-scale, short-term off-site batch processes, brine is isolated, transported and often undergoes physical and chemical changes before testing. With the commercial-scale LSS column, we can continuously test real brine from the Smackover at a commercial level.”

Let's f*ckin GEAUX!!

Whats the cost of the column? I don't see a problem with several columns. Was the original tech not as efficient, but cheaper to scale?

Also, sounds like you have an inside scoop.

The only place I remember seeing any specifics re Koch DLE vs Standard DLE is from Water Tower Research’s Initiation of Coverage here

“The sorption process at SLI’s Phase 1A Project and South West Arkansas project will use Koch’s LSS DLE extraction process. The technology is less water intensive and requires less reagents than LiSTR (lower cost), which will decrease the environmental impact and operating costs of the projects.”

Periodic reminder that the same guy (Craig Brown) invented them both.

Are you sure the column is already in operation? The PR says "The commercial-scale LiPRO™ LSS column is currently being filled with Koch Engineered Solutions proprietary lithium-selective sorption with commissioning expected later this month" and "Figure 2 – Barrels of Koch Engineered Solutions proprietary lithium-selective sorption currently being loaded into the commercial-scale LSS unit ahead of initial commissioning, expected in late March 2024."

So are we at that point where even good news is not that big of a deal? I wasn’t excited about the commercial use news but it seems like y’all think it’s meh?

Do we know yet if and when dilution will occur? I’d like to invest more but want to wait until after dilution event

If this gets diluted anymore with out a reverse stock split then it’s going to be delisted from the exchange and that really won’t be good.

Personally, I'm reserving my excitement for grants, financing, partnerships, and construction. And I believe the royalty decision is standing in the way of all of those (maybe not grants). Still glad to see this positive update

I'll try to remember the proofs then link them, but we know that dilution has already begun. I think in December

Eta this is a post on 1/12/24 about them diluting over $3M. They have the freedom to dilute up to $50M total, I believe.

Form 6k

So they have indeed started the dilution process.
Raised about $3.6M on 1.6m shares.

I'm not terribly worried about delisting yet. If it falls below $1 for 30 consecutive trading days they will receive a letter of non-compliance, then they'll be given 180 days to regain compliance by trading over $1 for 10 consecutive trading days. I'm following another company that's dealing with this and they've been under $1 for over 3 months and will possibly reverse split after another 2 months. So if SLI slid that hard they'd have a few months to hold over $1 for 10 days before reverse splitting

Something I’m looking out for is Pilbara and Albemarle will each hold a lithium auction aimed at price discovery and at the end of this month Fastmarkets will hold a vote on starting to include US/Canada lithium prices in their market data. People don’t want to be held to China’s lithium prices when IRA provisions make US-produced lithium more valuable. Car companies who use Chinese-sourced lithium won’t be able to offer ev tax credits so of course Chinese lithium is worth less than US lithium

I wonder where they are going to get the needed water in Nevada?
