Anybody ever make one? I was watching the travel channel and the had "The King of Steaks" in Philly and they looked awesome, but I know they never turn out the same at home.

i can't ever get it right at home. i guess if you bought a ribeye and used that it would help but i wouldn't wanna waste the ribeye

I guess I just don't get the Cheez Wiz on a ribeye steak sandwich. Wouldn't swiss, provolone or something more exotic be more suitable?

Same here. I did notice a cool griddle thing at Cabela's that goes on your grill. They had 3 different sizes.

The keys are steakums (sp) meat but make sure you use like 6-8 slices instead of the 2....good good toasted bread....fry up some onions, peppers and I like mushrooms....after they are browned a little throw in the meat...takes abotu 2 minutes for the meat to cook with about 30 seconds left put a ton of cheese wiz onto the meat and veggies...let cook and then pour it all on your sub roll...including the juices and everything ...add ketchup if you want and enjoy

Steakums - that is the key - they are in the frozen food aisle

Go to Carl's on 34th and 3rd if you're in the area.

How can frozen anything be the key ?
Posted on 7/18/08 at 11:27 am to LSUTygerFan
I think the key is getting it sliced thin enough. Might have to be partially frozen for this? (never tried making them at home)

I'm on a strict Keto diet and in Baton Rouge at the moment

i don't normally eat frozen food, or boxed this and that, i buy fresh food, cook it myself - although steakums are frozen, they are really good, that is just how they come, don't know what to tell you but try them. you cook them frozen in a skillet till hot and browned, they cook in like a minute- they are super thin pieces of meat, cook several, in some butter, with fresh onions, bell pepper and mushrooms, that you have already started cooking down, add a little salt and pepper, top with cheese, let it melt, put it on your po-boy bread- delicious!
