In a small community that cycle will eventually end. But in a city. It won’t.

Add to that that "current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. (from the CDC website)" So now, anyone that went to the same location the same day or even days after has to be contact traced.
It's a futile and pointless endeavor.
