If you read his emails gushing praise on Hillary it makes you wonder.

Except it didn’t stop SARS.

PDF of evidence of efficacy of most treatments
No one debates that there is evidence that it works inside cell cultures outside of human bodies, and that's what you have linked. That's different than 1) reducing transmission and 2) saving lives
If you listen to what Fauci says, he doesn't say that it doesn't work or that it doesn't do anything.
What he has said has been to the effect of, "the studies available are a bit overblown in terms of what is being interpreted."
He doesn't deny it could be useful, but what the data currently show is not that.
If you read the IDSA data, they actually encourage enrollment in various clinical trials, and that it is also available outside of trials if enrollment isn't feasible.

What do suggest we offer people who are dying? Nothing as we wait on clinical trials?
I want the Trump drugs if I get the China flu

Ideally? HCQ in the context of a clinical trial. Or any of the other >200 products that have shown promise in a test tube and are currently being tested in people with the disease.
Trials offer access to potential therapies while at the same time collecting data that we need to know what works. It's not the either-or scenario many here seem to think.

I literally posted a link with what's available.

They recommend enrollment in the trials, firstly. They also list what's available and reasonable outside or the context of a trial, including plaquenil.

One day soon, the irrefutable evidence of the relative effectiveness of HDCQ will be manifest; and it will be up to Fauci to justify his discouragement against an expedited use of this Drug which would have saved (assuming evidence bears such out) a LOT of lives. It'll be Fauci's baby...let him rock it. Trump is right, and you can damn well bet both he and Boris Johnson have taken that Drug.
IMO, Fauci is one of the MANY Progressive, Deep State anti-Trump actors up there. He IS 'the Swamp'. And his stance, action and the consequences are sadly predictable. Guaranteed that Fauci would never have suspended those early flights from Wuhan...on "anecdotal" evidence and WHO's sorry-assed- cover for the Chi-Coms.
I don't see how Trump gets up every morning an works with these back-stabbers who would love to see him fail...and be run out of office. So Hillary could take power.

Thank you for posting this. This is the kind of level-headed, fact-based discussion that is needed. There's too much of this conspiracy laden crap flying around here and now is not the time for it.

Hell, I watched a 2015 show on Netflix, Virus Empire I believe it was. Things that were discussed in that film:
SARS originated from China;
The virus was from bats;
The malaria drug worked.

Yeah...like those "conspiracy" theories that Obama wiretapped the Trump Campaign.
This is why wars are fought...and why political dialogue is useless to avert such. Pure, confirmation biased, cognitively dissonate and double standard and dishonest dialogue. Half truths offered a means of 'compromise'. This dog won't hunt much longer; it's why we are where we are. Honesty and Truth is here...and it's ('Second') Coming won't be painless.
Live and learn. Humanity 2020. Moving up the hard way.

But why does Fauci leave the audience with no hope and Birx just the opposite? See the difference in communication delivery style and the effect it has on people? Fauci doesn't have to be so negative.

There's a lot of things that work in animal model cell cultures that don't work clinically. This is a study of African green monkey kidney cells.

I would have to ask the audience members. I don't perceive him as negative. In print, I see a lot of people spinning him that way, but from the handful of conferences I've watched, I've not really had too many problems with what he's said in response to questions asked of him and think they are reasonable responses, generally speaking. I, of course, cannot remember every single one. But in terms of his position on the drug, he says over and over again that he hopes it works. But he gets a lot of questions with an "It's a miracle drug and this is over" tone that he disagrees with based on a lack of evidence in trials and in data suggesting that, from what I gather. The way I have perceived him is generally positive and factual.
And, again, in no way, shape, or form has the man suggested that no one should use the drug until the trials have been published. He encourages physicians to enroll patients in the trials and the drug has been dispensed from the SNS for patients physicians think need it outside of trials.

Stop ruining their Fauci bashing party.
Their criticisms aren't data driven. They are Monday morning quarterbacks.

Are you telling me you don't see the connection between Obama wire tapping the phones in Trump tower and COVID-19?
Get woke.

in one hand I can appreciate Fauci's approach to caution people from viewing this drug as a savior against this virus.. playing bad cop to Trump's good cop, and tempering expectations, is not necessarily a bad thing
On the other hand, he's giving ammunition to these moronic governors to ban a potential treatment based on the fact that the drug hasn't chewed through a sufficient amount of red tape yet

God forbid that anyone dare to Utter anything that is not 100% in lockstep with DJT
