Because my dad played football at LSU and I've been to every home game since age 2.

Solely because I am a student there.

Didn't even watch the national championship game in 2003.

Which is ironic because I am one of the more rabid fans out there, and have been since my first game in the student section with Tennessee.

My LSU fanhood is due to four generations of Tiger fans on my mother and father's side. My grandfather on my mother's side was a student at LSU when Huey Long was governor and he got a job at the old state capitol building as an elevator operator. The Kingfish helped get him the job so that he could pay his way through LSU. It goes back several generations on both sides and I was born within the shadow of Tiger Stadium on Alaska Street when my Dad was in law school at LSU. My parents have raised me to love LSU from the day I was born.

From the age of 12 I grew up in a boy's home in New Orleans. The superintendent, and my legal guardian, was a big Tulane fan and a graduate of USL. However, my counselor was an LSU alum and a tim tom player in the greatest band in the history of mankind. He got me interested in all things LSU and we had no options other than to watch LSU whenever they were on tv. I was fortunate enough to be able to get e scholarship to go to the state school of my choice, however, without a family support group, i.e. no money, no car, etc. I was relegated to attending UNO. I know I was one of the only UNO students who ever wore LSU gear to a UNO-LSU baseball game. My Privateer friends didn't like it much but screw them! haha Now I sport the purple and gold often and flaunt it in the faces of many of UNO's professors, with whom I am acquainted.

My great grandfathers played on football team from 1908-1911; four generations later, my grandparents, parents, and I went.

I sometimes wish I hadn't been raised a fan of s school, so I could put some more thought into picking a college, but I had a good time at LSU and in any event it's water under the bridge.

I was born into it. I'm the third generation of my family to graduate from LSU.
I wouldn't change my loyalty to LSU for anything.

I grew up in southern MS so Ole Miss, MSU, USM, and LSU were televised. The closest schools were USM and then LSU. SEC >>>>>>>>>> Conference USA so I chose to watch LSU. Watching Kevin Faulk play was also a deciding factor.

Legacy.., Grew up seeing my parents big LSU fans.
They never went to college. I decided I wanted to get my degree from LSU. I did in 1987.

LSU is in my blood. Sadly the Saints are as well.

I live in Texas now and try to tell my three daughters they need to go to UT, Vandy, Rice or SMU. Yet they are also hooked and love to play the LSU Band CD and cheer. What can you do?
