The kid looks good in early practices with a cannon, quick release, and showing accuracy. Reminds me of Jamarcus Russell 2.0 - the college version.

Weird, all the things I've read/heard say he's wildly inaccurate and that Max Johnson looks a lot better than him.

The one drill I watched yesterday made it seem like his accuracy is a work in progress.

With the proper development he has all the natural talent to take the reigns one day.

Nah, Max Johnson looks like he will be #2 and possibly challenge Brennan for the starting role.

Max Johnson feels like the dude for #2 this year. TJ seems like it'll take him a little time to develop and Max is more ready now. We'll see who looks better in the Spring Game.

ETA: Do we know what's up with Peter Parrish yet? Is he gone?

It's certainly early, but he has all the tools. If he can work on his accuracy, I could see it.

Didn't look great in the drills I saw, but that's just a snapshot of one day.

The practice video I saw showed him to be the least accurate of the QBs, with sloppy footwork. He air mailed the ball over the net in one drill from about 10 yards. He was spraying the ball around for the most part. I think it is more than “needs a little work.”

I always see a lot of Jamarcus comparisons to Finley, but JR was in a much different spot as a Freshmen with his mechanics. As big as he was, everything was quiet. Finley has a lot of moving parts, starting with his feet.

needed a redshirt year, then had to work thru an up and down 50% completion RS freshman year (and a somewhat mediocre if not more consistent Soph year) before he worked his way up to star status.

Thanks for posting, Mrs. Finley. Your son is very talented and we're happy to have him, but don't be surprised to see him get a redshirt this year.

Nothing wrong with that. Seems to have worked well for Myles Brennan.

I only saw a short clip of him throwing on air with no rush. Am I missing something?

He has a lot working against him. There have been way more successful QBs under 6'0, than those over 6'6. Plus he is only 18, so he might grow even more. He's just not going to work out at 6'8 or 6'9. I'd think basketball, cause he played in HS. But if he really has such a cannon, how about baseball? He could still play football, be a back-up. But I'd be looking at other sports if I'm him..

The clips that have come out of practice showing the QB’s going thru drills doesn’t really backup your comments. In fact it is not hard to see he is having some accuracy issues

What kind of idiot starts a thread of the total opposite of what actually happened.
