Bri and Roger know they can go back to the future but they do not know if their kid can. Additionally, the travel through the stones requires a gem, which aren't as common in the past.

Still they are being over dramatic about it

Why can’t the kid go? Couldn’t the whole family be there while they try and if he can’t then they just come right back. Not a big deal

They need to shove Roger into the rock and tell him to stay there. He's a weenie. He shoots like a Star Wars Stormtrooper. Brianna would be better off with Lord John the gay as a husband than Roger

1) You have to have a gemstone to do this, per person. Without it they will be killed in the process. Hard to come by. They also are scared of what jumping through the stones will do to a baby.

2) They have to travel to the stones...which can be very unsafe.

3) That’s not what the author wanted...it is her story after all

I'm gonna add to what nurse said.

In the books, going through the stones is extremely painful and really messes with them. They don't usually come to for a bit after going through. And they come across strange deaths that they realize are attributed to the stones. Roger doesn't even make it through the first time he tries. So not knowing if Jemmy is Roger's or Bonnet's, they can't risk taking him through and he not be able to pass.

Ottertooth's story was fleshed out a bit more in the books (they may touch on it more later) but he was one of a group of people who tried to go through and they don't all make it.

Also, they found that gemstones offer protection for traveling through. They are a bit harder to come by back then.

Poor Roger though. In the books, Claire does diagnose him with a sight issue. Something like he doesn't have telescopic vision (?) so it's harder for him to judge the distance of stuff he's trying to shoot. They just made him look like a little bitch this way.

I’m a big fan of Outlander but as the story line goes on I find I roll my eyes more and more. I really miss Season 1 in Scotland. But of course I’ll keep watching.

I’ve only read the first 1/2 of the book that this season is based on (book is long and boring so far) so this will be the first time I’ve watched without knowing what’s coming up. And in some ways it’s good because Murtaugh is not even supposed to be alive, where will his story go? Who knows.

I loved season 2 when they were in France

Mostly because of the gorgeous wardrobe that Claire wore during that season.

Outlander fans?

This has gone from a pretty solid show to a Lifetime Channel special.

Hard to argue. Wife and I enjoyed S1-3 but it just seems to drag now

I feel like I’m watching Dr Quinn medicine woman and the writing seems to have gone to waste side

I’m kinda over watching random love scenes with a Gaelic instrumental in the background

Update on my comments above after watching last nights.

Wife and I feel like it’s just dragging so much right now and the storylines aren’t very interesting. It’s like they get sidetracked on irrelevant details

We find this show has turned into one we watch while checking our cell phones. We have a list a mile long of shows on our DVR and this has turned into a chore.

The writing is just gotten bad. Like last night while Jamie was looking around that house and you heard the noise banging from behind the door. He kept saying “what’s that” and they built up 10-15 seconds of tension and it’s a billy goat. Then the woman says “oh that’s just Billy”. Lol. My wife and I both laughed like “she could have just said that’s my goat Willie making all that noise” when he was asking for 20 seconds what that noise is.

Hope it gets better but not feeling it.

The sap in this show has gotten crazy

Also, the most recent episode does nothing for the story unless Fanny's baby ends up becoming an important character.

And how about the fact that her name was Fanny just like it was in Harlots?

My wife also complained that she hasnt seen Jamie's arse in a while.

I countered with not seeing Claire's breasts in a while.

Damn, tough crowd.

I did not like last season or much of the last two episodes, but I thought "Free Will" was a standalone great episode of tv. I loved the cinematic horror vibes, the claustrophobic set, and the almost complete lack of Roger. That was some memorable shite, will probably be the high point of the season for me.

But I'm also not engaged with the story enough to be bothered by a one-off like this.

You share the same feelings as my wife and I. It's starting to drag. The further the show gets away from Scotland the more "dull" it's becoming. Claire and Jamie are no longer on the run from what ever danger is around the corner. They are longer arguing and screwing like they used to. Brianna and Roger are boring as hell.

I think one of the biggest key hindrances to the show is the lack of solid supporting characters. In Scotland they had Dougald and Colin Jenny and Ian, Ned Gowin Lord John's backed off, the crazy Laoghaire and no villains as colorful and Black Jack or the Duke of Sandringham...

If you look at the first 3 seasons the entire cast was much better than now...Claire and Jamie are good but they need a stronger supporting cast

Agree with all of that. The irony is they use bad CG to make it look like North Carolina. They still shoot it in Scotland
